Arcadis JV lands key role in $16bn NY transport corridor project

03-03-2024

A joint venture between Dutch engineer Arcadis, British contractor Mace and American consultant Parsons has been chosen as the delivery partner for the $16 billion Hudson Tunnel Project, reported GCR.

The scheme involves extending and refurbishing the rail link between Washington DC, New Jersey and New York.

The Hudson Tunnel Project will improve the line’s capacity, reliability and resiliency by adding a 4km double-bore tunnel.

The MPA Delivery Partners team will coordinate stakeholders, contractors and consultants to make sure they are working to the requirements of the Gateway Development Commission (GDC), stated the report.

The joint venture’s scope includes costing, scheduling, risk control, and construction and quality management.

The project is due to receive $6.9 billion in funding from the Federal Transit Administration in 2024, reported GCR.

"The delivery partner will be the arms and legs that enable GDC to continue to move this project in high gear as we prepare for heavy construction to start," said GDC in its statement.

"With more major contract awards coming down the pike this year, getting the delivery partner on board ensures we have the strongest and most agile team at the ready," it added.
