Eterno Ivica’s GRF System was used for the redevelopment of the outdoor area of the renowned Questacon museum, also known as the “Earthquake House” in Canberra, Australia.
This interactive science centre welcomes thousands of visitors each year, including families and school groups.
The renovation of Questacon not only included waterproofing action to solve water leakage problems and general work on the structure of the building, but also the installation of natural stone exterior elevated floor that can withstand the heavy traffic in the museum's outdoor area and support heavy loads, such as a 1,500-pound electric scissor elevator.
GRF System is the perfect laying system for this project, as it is the strongest and safest given the functional requirements of high pavement walkability. The substructure of interlocking grids makes the floor solid and able to withstand above-average loads, said Eterno Ivica.
The supports choose for the project make it more efficient and safer: the lowest height supports in the Eterno Ivica range in order to increase the load bearing capacity. The supports used for the project are: Star.T, EH Rubber and New Maxi.
Eterno Ivica's Star.T support can satisfy the most demanding “thresholds.” Thanks to its small footprint, it is an excellent ally for renovations: Star.T is able to adjust its height from 10 mm up to 30 mm and can elevate any type of ceramic, concrete or composite floor of any size and weight.
The millimeter adjustment of Star.T makes it possible to achieve elegant and perfectly level pavements, thus shortening the laying time and giving stability and precision to the whole pavement.
EH Rubber 10+6 supports are also an excellent ally for achieving excellent results in terms of load resistance and allow to comply with the limits in terms of height. In fact, EH Rubber 6, when used individually, becomes the lowest fixed rubber support for outdoor raised floors in the Pedestal line, the company said.
It is made entirely of recyclable SBS rubber, it is particularly resistant to temperature changes, acid solutions and weathering, making it especially suitable for outdoor use.
Its shape and the material used allow any type of finishing (stone, ceramic, concrete, composite material, etc.) of any size and weight to be raised.
New Maxi supports were used to finish the stone-covered outdoor platform, as they have a breaking strength above the market average, allowing for heights up to 160 mm.
Natural granite stone finishes were chosen to complete the project with GRF System. The laying system that offers complete design freedom and allows you to choose the most suitable finish to make the project unique, it said.
An impressive and elegant project that recorded the use of 500 grids and more than 2,000 supports, and highlights the functional and qualitative performance of Eterno Ivica products, it added. - TradeArabia News Service
