An ambitious economic plan dubbed ‘New Kuwait’ launched early this year aims to steer the nation’s growth in an era of depleting oil revenues and transform the country over the next 17 years.






The Avenues mall in Kuwait is huge; its sheer size can be gauged from the approximately 20,000 people it currently employs in more than 800 stores. What is more, this is expected to rise to 30,000 employees and 1,200 outlets after the opening of its Phase Four expansion next year.






Work on a new terminal for Jazeera Airways at Kuwait International Airport is scheduled for completion next month (January 2018), to enable the state-of-the-art facility to become fully operational and open for travellers by March 2018.






One of the largest healthcare projects in the Middle East, the 1,171-bed New Jahra Hospital is currently taking shape on a 440,000-sq-m site at a cost of $1.18 billion. Due for completion in March 2018, the 15-storey complex is part of Kuwait’s national health plan that aims to allocate 22 beds for every 10,000 people by 2030.






NFT Kuwait says it has been awarded the biggest contract of its kind in Kuwait for the supply of over two dozen tower cranes that will be utilised in the construction of a new terminal at Kuwait International Airport. The contract was awarded by Turkish contractor Limak Insaat, which is building the new terminal at the airport, a project worth $4.
