Arabtec Holding, a leading contractor for social and economic infrastructure, says its wholly-owned subsidiary, Arabtec Construction has been awarded a Dh1.025-billion ($279 million) contract from Dubai Properties for the Amaranta and La Quinta phases of its Villanova project in Dubailand.

Mammoet, a leading provider of solutions for lifting and installing large and heavy structures, says it has played a key role in the Dubai Mall extension project. The company was contracted by Malaysian engineering and construction company Eversendai to help erect the new bridge  that will connect the existing mall to a new section.

Salini Impregilo, a specialist in the construction and civil engineering business, has won contracts worth a combined $300 million in the GCC. The Italian construction major says it will build a $100-million water desalination plant through its subsidiary Fisia Italimpianti in Oman.

L&T inks big Saudi, UAE substation contracts Indian construction giant Larsen & Toubro (L&T) says its power transmission and distribution business has won two big orders from the GCC region worth nearly $250 million.
