Airport Construction

A TOTAL of more than $8 billion is to be spent over the next few years to build, upgrade  and expand airports in the GCC, according to Gulf Construction estimates. The showpiece project in the region is the expansion of Dubai international airport which alone involves an investment of $4.5 billion.






Ege carpets have been recently supplied and installed at the Sheikh Rashid terminal of the Dubai International Airport by Gemaco Interiors. The Dubai-based company, which the sole UAE agent for egetaepper, supplied approximately 2,000 sq m of carpets for the project.






Eight major consortia are in the fray for the second package of the $4.5 billion Dubai International Airport expansion project.  The successful bidder is expected to be announced this month. The package, work on which is expected to start next month, includes the foundation and concrete works for Terminal 3 and Concourse 2 buildings.
