Expo Centre Sharjah will host Gulf Glass 2009 — the third glass, machinery, equipment and materials exhibition, and the only event dedicated to the industry in the region — from March 16 to 18.
It will be held in conjunction with the DWRW event (Doors and Windows, Roofs and Walls Middle East).
“Independently organised, dedicated to glass manufacturing and processing, staged in the UAE, and continuing to be accessible and affordable; these factors go together to make the right exhibit package and have drawn wide support from a fascinating international cross-section of participants who will showcase at the event,” said Kevin Hudson, event director of Gattaca Communications.
He said the Gulf area still provided uplift amid the current financial downturn, where systems for glass were concerned. "The recent order for $67 million worth of glass and aluminium for Jumeirah Lakes; the massive new operations hubs for Danube Building Materials; the contracts worth $740 million handed out for the Doha Convention Centre and Tower are all examples of continued serious investment which will keep demand levels up and provide a springboard for the expansion of existing glassmaking facilities and investment in new ones,” he said. Participation has already been confirmed by major exhibitors from China, the Czech Republic, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, India, Iran, Italy, The Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Turkey, the UAE, the UK and the US.
“We look forward to hosting ‘regulars’ from our two previous editions as well. I am happy to say that are a good number of first-time exhibitors from various countries,” Hudson said. “This structure and the centre that we use suits the showcasing of glass technologies to the GCC and Middle East visitor base and we are conscious that the overall presentation and message remains highly focussed and undiluted,” he added.
