REEF Island in Bahrain achieved a major safety milestone last month when the project’s contractor, Al Hamad Construction, achieved one million hours without a lost-time accident.
To mark the event, Lulu Tourism Company held a function on the construction site, with the developer’s general manager Elias Karaan presenting a plaque in the shape of the island to Al Hamad Construction project manager Fadi Habib. Additional gifts were presented to the health and safety team and selected site personnel.
“To achieve more than one million hours without a lost-time accident is testament to the fantastic work being carried out on site,’’ said Paul Bonner of Davis Langdon, the project and cost manager on Reef Island.
Once complete, Reef Island will consist of luxurious residential accommodation in the form of villas and apartments, a private lagoon, a private marina and yacht club, a five-star hotel and a shopping centre.
