New valve raises the bar

01 May 2009

DANISH company Broen, a leader in intelligent flow solutions, has launched a class-leading innovation within its Ballorex range of valves.

The new product, Broen Ballorex Dynamic, is an expansion of the Ballorex Venturi product line with a pressure-independent modulating control valve for heating and cooling installations.
The new valve combines the best features of the static and dynamic balancing valves. It renders the commissioning process unnecessary through a series of groundbreaking features, while inheriting the precise flow measurement of Ballorex Venturi, says a company spokesman.
“The built-in differential pressure modulating control ensures that the desired flow through the valve is kept constant,” he continues. “The groundbreaking feature in Broen Ballorex Dynamic is its direct flow measuring. The flow is gauged by measuring the pressure drop through a fixed venturi-shaped orifice directly from the flow through the valve and can be read by using a flowmeter.
“With an accuracy of within +/- 3 per cent at all opening positions, the valve is both accurate and eliminates any doubt that the valve is delivering the correct flow. In this way, the pre-setting of the valve becomes more precise than for any other dynamic valve.”
Like its predecessor, Broen Ballorex Dynamic is multi-functional. This means that it can be used without an actuator as a dynamic flow limiter, which efficiently ensures that the flow never exceeds the limit established by the pre-setting.
In addition, the valve can function as a modulating control valve with built-in dynamic flow limiter and controlled by the building’s BMS (building management system)/CTS (technical central control of condition) system when used as a thermal actuator. Broen Ballorex Dynamic thus combines three valve functions in one: dynamic flow limiter and modulating or on/off actuated control valve with dynamic flow limiter.
“In addition, the well-considered design of the valve makes installation quick, flexible and space-saving,” says the spokesman. “When the valve is mounted with Broen actuators, the mounting has 360 degrees of flexibility; in addition, both the pre-setting and measuring points are turned downwards for ease of adjustment in-situ.”
The function is, moreover, unaffected by the piping before and after the valve, which means that bends can be mounted directly on the valve, he adds.
Like the other product lines from Broen, such as Broen Ballofix, the new valve is supplied in several different versions with large flow capacity ranges. In addition, all valves are supplied with a broad range of connection options and accessories.
“Broen Ballorex Dynamic makes the work flow more efficient while minimising the need for maintenance, because the valve in flush mode can be flushed before the cartridge is inserted. After flushing, the cartridge is mounted and no dirt settles in the moveable parts of the valve.”
Broen Ballorex Dynamic will be available in July.
