Bauma to focus on emission levels
TIGHTER emission control levels challenging the construction machinery industry will be a major theme of the innovations exhibited at bauma 2010, which will be held from April 19 to 25 at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre in Germany.

A record 555,000 sq m of indoor and outdoor exhibition space is being dedicated to a display of the latest products from the international construction, building-materials and mining machinery sectors. More than 3,000 exhibitors are expected to participate in this event which is considered to be the world’s biggest trade fair for these sectors.
The fair is taking place just a few months before new emissions directives come into force: from 2011, with the Stage III B Directive 97/68/EC and Tier 4 US emissions legislation, new interim limits will apply to emissions from non-road vehicles, such as diggers, road rollers and cutters. 

Expo to explore housing evolution
TRANS/hitos 2010, now in its sixth edition, will showcase the ceramic industry’s progress in the field of interior design, architecture, when it opens next month (February 9 to 10) in Valencia, Spain. The show has become one of the main attractions within the complementary events offered by Cevisama Indi, an international fair for architectural ceramics, bathroom and kitchen equipment, natural stone, raw materials, frits, glazes and colours, machinery.
The expo will be located at the main hall in Feria Valencia.

Focus on concrete technology
THE Second International Conference on Advances in Concrete Technology in the Middle East highlighted advances in Self-Consolidating Concrete (SCC) and its importance in sustaining the Gulf construction sector’s projected 3.5 per cent annual growth through the next five years.
The event, held last month December 8 to 10 in Abu Dhabi, featured papers on material selection and mix design, production and quality control, fibre-reinforced SCC, economic and environmental benefits, workability and rheology, test methods and processing, structural performance and design; experience and case studies, and specifications.

Domotex targets office sector
DOMOTEX Middle East has announced that it is creating dedicated segments to cater to the carpet and floor covering requirements of several new office development projects in Dubai, which are collectively expected to deliver up to 34.6 million sq ft of new office space in the next three years. Domotex Middle East is expected to showcase a bigger and better range of products and services when it opens at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from May 10 to 12.

Wastewater treatment in focus
WITH global spending on wastewater treatment expected to exceed $81 billion by 2012 and the Middle East increasing its annual investment by more than eight per cent, the Middle East Waste Summit will be welcoming wastewater treatment and recycling companies to participate for the first time this year. Traditionally focusing on the management and recycling of solid refuse, the addition of water treatment experts will ensure the summit – being staged at Dubai Airport Expo from May 18 to 20 – serves as an all-encompassing platform for the industry to showcase best practice, demonstrate services, explore collaborations and find partners who can deliver innovative solutions to the GCC region.

Milan show to meet expectations
FINAL preparations are under way for the next edition of Milano Architecttura Design Edilizia (Made expo), the international event dedicated to the building and planning sector, scheduled to take place next month (February 3 to 6) at Fiera Milano Rho, Milan, Italy.
There will be exhibition areas dedicated to companies and their production excellence and a show of innovative products and systems in structural engineering, offering a close-up look at new technologies, products and systems. The 2010 edition will also see the return of the Decor and Colour Show.
