Crescent Foundry Company, considered to be India’s largest manufacturer and exporter of grey and ductile iron castings, is keenly eyeing further growth in the Middle East having already been approved and specified by leading authorities in the region.
The Kolkata-based firm currently serves customers right from North America in the west to New Zealand in the east.
“We export to more than 27 countries worldwide with customers in North America, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Africa and most countries in the Middle East,” says a spokesman for the company.
With an annual production capacity of 20,000 tonnes of cast iron and 8,000 tonnes of ductile iron using cupolas and induction furnaces, the company produces a wide range of products, such as manhole frames and covers; recessed frames and covers; gully and channel gratings; kerb gullies; and telecommunication manhole covers. It also has two Disa moulding machines to produce higher quality castings.
“Our products are approved and specified by most of the leading consultants and utility companies in the Gulf region, such as Sharjah Municipality; Federal Electricity and Water Authority, UAE; Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai, UAE; Port of Fujairah; Kuwait’s Ministry of Public Works; Oman’s Ministry of Transport and Communication and Ministry of Regional Municipalities, Environment and Water Resources; Sohar Port, Oman; and Bahrain’s Ministry of Works and Housing,” the spokesman says.
Crescent Foundry’s products are made according to international standards, such as BS EN 124 (Europe and Middle East); ASTM (US); AS 3996 (Australia); and DIN (Germany).
The company has been awarded many international certifications for its quality products, such as ISO 9001:2000 – Bureau Veritas; Kitemark – BSI, UK; S-Mark – Bureau Veritas; MPA – Germany; BS Ohsas 18001:2007; and ISO 14001:2004.
Besides ferrous castings, the company also owns a fabrication unit capable of producing 4,000 tonnes per year of fabricated steel products; and moulds for roto-moulding, injection moulding as well as extrusion of plastic products.
Apart from its manufacturing activities, Crescent Foundry also offers engineering design services to companies all over the world through associate company CresCAD. Services include delivering modelling and detailing for structural engineers, steel fabricators and general contractors, in addition to providing designs for cast, forged, plastic and fabricated products.
CresCAD has more than 15 years of experience in design services and has customers in the US, Canada, the UK, France, Finland, Sweden, Qatar, Kuwait, the UAE, Oman, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and India.
Crescent Foundry was established in 1982.
