BAHRAIN

Capital Trade Centre (Manama Central Market)
Owner: Bahrain Ministry of Municipalities and Agriculture Affairs
Budget: $2.6 billion
Scope of work: The project located in Manama calls for design and construction of four 28-storey office and shopping towers with the new central market planned to take up the basement and ground floors. Floors one to six include car parking facilities and a massive shopping mall, while the remaining 20 floors in each tower feature offices. The scope of work also includes a heritage village, five-star hotel, towers, a commercial complex, fish, meat and vegetables markets and green areas. 
Update: Bahrain’s Ministry of Municipalities and Agriculture Affairs is finalising plans and looking for investment.

Bahrain Science and Technology Park
Owner: Kuwait Finance House (KFH)
Budget: $1 billion
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of a 2-million-sq-m Science and Technology Park in the south of Bahrain to provide information, services, studies and researches that deals with learning, training and environmental aspects. The scope of work will include learning, training, scientific research units, residential buildings and infrastructure work.
Update: The project is still in the early stages of study.

Reef Island (Lulu Island Resort) – Phase One
Owner: Lulu Tourism Company
Budget: $159 million
Scope of work: The project involves the construction of Reef Island Development that will be situated on the shores of Manama featuring luxurious residential buildings. The scope of work includes eight elite residential buildings, 49 beach villas and 14 luxury villas. It will also include 17 residential buildings with heights between six to 13 storeys.
Update: Construction work is in completion stages.

Sukoon Tower
Owner: Tashyeed Properties Company
Budget: $150 million
Scope of work: The project calls for design and construction of a 45-storey residential tower in Juffair, Manama. The tower consists of 592 apartments with a total floor area of 4,800 sq m and 740 car-parking slots. The scope of work also includes an outdoor swimming pool, a sky-garden, health clubs and several other features.
Update: Arabian Aluminium Company will carry out glass and aluminum cladding works.

Reef Island (Lulu Island Resort) – Difaaf Towers
Owner: Reef Venture Holding Company
Budget: $120 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of a 16,000 sq m residential development that will form part of Reef Island. It will include two towers – 20 and 25 storeys high respectively – with 425 apartments. 
Update: Bids are still under evaluation.

Asry Expansion Project – Quay Wall
Owner: Arab Shipbuilding & Repair Yard Company (Asry)
Budget: $80 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of a 1,200-m quay wall, with a water depth of up to 12 m, designed to receive 300,000 DWT vessels as well as a 180-m berth for 40,000 DWT vessels.
Update: Nass Contracting has been appointed as the main contractor. The first 400 m will be completed by the year-end, with the entire length completed next year.

Asry Expansion Project – Support Facilities & Infrastructure
Owner: Arab Shipbuilding & Repair Yard Company (Asry)
Budget: $50 million
Scope of work: The project calls for design and construction of all support facilities and infrastructure in Hidd for Asry.
Update: The development is in the design phase.

KUWAIT

Subiya Causeway (Shaikh Jaber Al Ahmed Al Sabah Causeway)
Owner: Kuwait Ministry of Public Works (MPW)
Budget: $3.7 billion
Scope of work: The scope of work includes the design and construction of a 37-km causeway across the Bay of Kuwait connecting Shuwaikh Port/Ghazali Expressway with the Subiya New Town Development. The project includes an elevated road of 3 km through the Shuwaikh Port area; an interchange north of Shuwaikh Port; a 27 km low-level bridge across the bay; a main bridge with a span of 150-200 m; a 25-hectare transition island developed towards Subiya for maintenance and emergency services; and a 5-km approach road onshore in Subiya. The causeway will have three lanes plus an emergency lane in both directions.
Update: The MPW has submitted the project to the Central Tenders Committee (CTC). A tender is expected to be issued shortly.

Jahra Road Upgrade
Owner: Kuwait Ministry of Public Works (MPW)
Budget: $995 million
Scope of work: The project, to be developed in two phases, calls for upgrade of the Jahra Road to an expressway. Phase One includes upgrade of Jahra Road to expressway with many interchanges from the Second Ring Road to the UN Roundabout. Phase Two includes upgrade of Jahra Road to an expressway and linking Sheikh Jaber City to the highway network, from the UN Roundabout with the end of Doha Link. The scope also includes linking Sheikh Jaber/Doha Link with Jahra Road, extension of Road 55 to Subiya new road and Sheikh Jaber City. It includes construction bridges and upper roads with a length of 14 km.
Update: Kuwait Arab Contractors Company has been appointed as main contractor, with the main contract expected to have been signed last month (January).

Regional Road – Northern Section
Owner: Kuwait Ministry of Public Works (MPW)
Budget: $700 million
Scope of work: The project calls for design and construction of the 258-km northern section of the regional road. This part includes the 97-km Salmi Road link to the Regional Road, an 84-km extension of Abdali Highway to the Regional Road, the 46-km Subiya city link to the Regional Road, and the at 31-km Salmi interchange link to the Regional Road at Abdali.
Update: The ministry has signed a design contract for the southern  section, and is expected to sign the deal soon with the design contractor selected for the northern part.

Regional Road – Southern Section
Owner: Kuwait Ministry of Public Works (MPW)
Budget: $300 million
Scope of work: The project calls for design and construction of the 135 km south section of the Regional Road.
Update: The ministry has signed a design contract for the southern  section, and is expected to sign the deal soon with the design contractor selected for the northern part.

Al Abdaly Border Post
Owner: Kuwait Ministry of Public Works (MPW)
Budget: $192 million
Scope of work: The project calls for design and construction a 2-km border post at Al Abdaly on the border with Iraq. The border post includes a series of buildings.
Update: The board of ministers has told the MPW not to proceed with releasing of tender for the project until a new company has been found to take responsibility for the project in place of the ministry.

Kuwait National Assembly Building Extension
Owner: Kuwait Ministry of Public Works (MPW)
Budget: $115 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of three new buildings covering an area of 11,000 sq m, along the corniche in Kuwait. It will include a six-storey member's office building housing 75 staff members, a three-storey information technology centre and a six-storey civil defence building. It will also provide suites and research facilities. The total built-up area of the development is 72,000 sq m.
Update: Construction work is in progress on the development. Completion is expected in June next year.

Subiya Expressway – Phase Two
Owner: Kuwait Ministry of Public Works (MPW)
Budget: $84 million
Scope of work: The second phase will involve the upgrading and construction of a further 23 km of the 72-km Jahra-Subiya Expressway. The contract includes the construction of nine bridges along the Subiya Expressway. The project was initiated to reduce travelling time to the planned new city at Subiya and new Bubiyan port.
Update: The road opening is imminent.

OMAN

Southern Expressway Road
Owner: Muscat Municipality
Budget: $342 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of a 53-km expressway linking Qurum and Al Naseem roundabouts. The project will have 39 structures comprising bridges and bypasses, with the longest structure being built at Al Khoud.
Update: Construction work is in progress, with completion expected in December.

Dakhiliyah Central Prison
Owner: Oman Government
Budget: $140 million
Scope of work: The project calls for design and construction of three zones covering an area of 600,000 sq m. The prison is built in an open area in Sumail 12 km from Luzugh filling station at Sur-Bid Bid Road.
Update: Completion is expected in March.
Rehabilitation Works of Nizwa-Thumrait Road – Phase Three
Owner: Oman Ministry of Transport & Communications
Budget: $130 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and rehabilitation works of Phase Three of Nizwa-Thumrait Road.
Update: Construction work is expected to be completed in May next year.

Sohar Port & Industrial Area Development – Sohar Port Interchange
Owner: Oman Ministry of Transport & Communications
Budget: $127 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of a new interchange that will link the industrial port area to the Muscat Highway and Sohar Aluminium smelter in Sohar Industrial Estate.
Update: Completion of the interchange is due in March.

Muscat Golf and Country Club – Golf Course – Villas
Owner: Oman Ministry of Tourism
Budget: $110 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of 80 villas at Muscat Golf and Country Club Development. Work also includes related building services, high and low voltage installations, external services, roads and culverts and perimeter fencing.
Update: The villas are close to completion.

Rehabilitation Works for Nizwa-Thumrait Road – Phase Four
Owner:

Budget: $100 million
Scope of work: The project calls for design and rehabilitation works for Phase Four of Nizwa-Thumrait Road.
Update: Local and international contractors have submitted their bids for the main contract.

QATAR

Qatar Railway Network – Masterplan
Owner: Qatar Ministry of Economy and Commerce
Budget: $23.2 billion
Scope of work: The project calls for design and execution of a 651-km-long railway network with 98 stations in Qatar. The country’s national rail scheme includes five railway systems: an east coast rail link for passengers and freight between Ras Laffan and Mesaieed via Doha; a high-speed link from New Doha International Airport through Doha city centre and on to the causeway; a freight link connected to the planned GCC rail network; a Doha metro network; and a light rail system serving new developments to the north of Doha, such as Lusail, Education City and West Bay. The project is to be built in three phases with Phase One involving a 85-km-long rail network.
Update: QRDC has completed an initial study and the concept design for the railway network has been approved. Preliminary work is expected to commence next year and construction work in 2012. First train will complete in 2016.

Qatar-UAE Causeway
Owner: Qatar Government – UAE Federal Government JV
Budget: $13 billion
Scope of work: The project will involve the construction of a 65-km causeway between Qatar and the UAE.
Update: The project is still in the early stages of study.

New Doha Port – Phase Two
Owner: Higher Committee for the Co-ordination & Pursuance Executive Council
Budget: $5 billion
Scope of work: The project calls for design and construction of a second container terminal as part of the New Doha Port, which will have a capacity of two million TEUs a year and an extension to the harbour basin.
Update: The project is in the early stages of study.

Heart of Doha City – Masterplan
Owner: Dohaland
Budget: $4.9 billion
Scope of work: Heart of Doha is a 35-hectare site, which will transform the architectural centre of the capital city, recreating a way of living that is rooted in Qatari culture. Heart of Doha will be a 'city within a city' that merges the best characteristics of the past with modern technologies. The project aims to create a dynamic local economy, with school and basic amenities, and facilitating community interaction and social exchange in a common, sophisticated public area.
Update: Enabling work is in progress on the development. Tenders have been issued for some packages.

New Doha Port – Phase Three
Owner: Higher Committee for the Co-ordination & Pursuance Executive Council
Budget: $4 billion
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of a third container terminal at New Doha Port, which will have a capacity of 6 million TEUs a year.
Update: The project is in its early stages of study.

Qatar Railway Network – Lusail Light Railway Train
Owner: Qatar Railways Development Company (QRDC)
Budget: $1.65 billion
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of a 30-km light railway transit system at Qatar Entertainment City in Lusail. Some 6.6 km of the line will be underground. The scope of work includes seven underground stations, 22 at grade stations and provisions of four tramway operations with 30 trains in total. The development it will be the first section of Qatar Railway Network and running from Lusail Development to Doha International Airport.
Update: QRDC has completed an initial study. Concept design for the railway network has been approved.

Doha Expressway Project – Packages One & Two – 22 February Interchange
Owner: Public Works Authority (Ashghal)
Budget: $300 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of a 6-km, three-lane dual-carriageway, a 5.5-km-long access road to the highway, underpasses, crossovers and a major interchange. The project involves construction of an intersection to link the expressway with Sailiya. Two lanes on each side will be for light vehicles and a third lane will be restricted for trailers and heavy vehicles.
Update: Ashghal has resumed work on the project.

Al Majid Tower
Owner: Al Majid Real Estate
Budget: $100 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of a 50-storey residential tower in Doha.
Update: Construction work is in progress on the 46th storey. Completion is expected in December.

Doha Expressway Project – Package Nine
Owner: Public Works Authority (Ashghal)
Budget: $100 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of 11 km of new highway running from the existing Al Muntazah Roundabout on the E Ring Road to New Doha International Airport and the proposed port.
Update: The main contract has not been awarded yet.

SAUDI ARABIA

Shams Al Arous – Masterplan
Owner: Dar Al Arkan Real Estate Development Company
Budget: $1.6 billion
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of a 3-million-sq-m residential development that will be located in the east of Jeddah. It will comprise 10,000 residential units, entertainment centres, shopping outlets, offices, restaurants, schools and mosques.
Update: The project is still in the very early stages of planning.

Conference Centre in Jeddah
Owner: Royal Protocol
Budget: $1.5 billion
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of a new conference centre in Jeddah with a total built-up area of 150,000 sq m. It also includes extensive renovation work to the existing palace and construction of a presidential guesthouse.
Update: The project is on track for completion in the fourth quarter.

Taif University – Masterplan
Owner: Saudi Arabia Ministry of Higher Education
Budget: $1.49 billion
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of a University City in Taif to include administration buildings, colleges of science, computer science, engineering, community, medicine and medical science, accommodation buildings for staff and students as well as infrastructural work. The University City will cover an area of 17 million sq m.
Update: The main construction contract for students’ accommodation buildings was expected to be awarded last month (January).

Shams Alriyadh Project – Residential Units – Phase One
Owner: Dar Al Arkan Real Estate Development Company
Budget: $600 million
Scope of work: The project involves the construction of 3,200 residential units and the associated facilities that will form a part of Shams Alriyadh Project in Saudi Arabia.
Update: Design work has been delayed due to financial issues.

Red Sea Gateway Terminal
Owner: Saudi Trade & Export Development Company (Tusdeer)
Budget: $500 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and execution of new container terminal in Jeddah Islamic Port. It includes the construction of the quay wall, land reclamation and dredging 18-m-deep and 16.5-m-deep approach channels as well as other related infrastructure work. The development also includes the 735-m main berth and a 310-m feeder berth with a draft of 18 m. Eight twin-lift 40 ship-to-shore cranes and 26 rubber-tyred gantries with double lift capability will be installed. The annual container will handle capacity of 1.5 million TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units).
Update: Construction work is in the completion stage.

2,000 Health Clinics – 456 Clinics – 152 Clinics (Al Mansouriya)
Owner: Saudi Arabia Ministry of Health
Budget: $500 million
Scope of work: The project involves the construction of 456 clinics across Saudi Arabia, including single-storey buildings, external works, car parking, landscaping and sidewalks. The development is a part of the planned 2,000 healthcare centres to be constructed in the kingdom.
Update: About 90 per cent of construction work has been completed.

Budget: $500 million
Scope of work: The project involves the construction of 456 clinics across Saudi Arabia, including single-storey buildings, external works, car parking, landscaping and sidewalks. The development is a part of the planned 2,000 healthcare centres to be constructed in the kingdom.
Update: The project has been partly handed over and will be completed  by June this year.

Al Qasr Project – Buildings
Owner: Dar Al Arkan Real Estate Development Company
Budget: $350 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of a 813,389 sq m development is located at Suwaidi, south of Riyadh. The scope of work includes 4,000 unit villas and commercial utilities (including four or five storey buildings). The total built area is estimated at about 711,059 sq m – 359,014 sq m for residential area, 317,551 sq m for commercial units, and 34,494 sq m for offices. The scope of work also includes infrastructure work and other related facilities.
Update: Construction work is 99 per cent complete.

Al Tilal Residential Development  – Phase Two
Owner: Dar Al Arkan Real Estate Development Company
Budget: $300 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of 1,000 villas and associated facilities that will form part of Al Tilal Residential Development in Madinah.
Update: Design work has been delayed due to financial issues.

Taif University – Students Accommodation
Owner: Saudi Arabia Ministry of Higher Education
Budget: $260 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of 15 accommodation buildings for students as part of the Taif University in Saudi Arabia.
Update: The main contract is expected to be awarded shortly.

Headquarters for Saudi Ministry of Finance
Owner: Saudi Arabia Ministry of Finance
Budget: $255 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of new headquarters for the Finance Ministry in Al Nakheel district of Riyadh. The development includes 36 buildings covering an area of 670,000 sq m and including accommodation facilities, offices, shops, post offices, warehousing, recreation clubs and 7,000 car-parking slots. The scope of work also includes a sewage treatment plant, plant rooms, a district cooling system and landscaping. The total built-up area of the development is 168,000 sq m.
Update: The project is progressing as per schedule.

Abu Ajrem Teberjel Qurayyat Road
Owner: Saudi Arabia Ministry of Transport
Budget: $200 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of the 300-km Abu Ajrem-Teberjel-Qurayyat dual carriageway with 22 interchanges.
Update: The completion date has been delayed until March.

Al Qasr – Shopping Mall
Owner: Dar Al Arkan Real Estate Development Company
Budget: $200 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of a three-storey shopping mall in the Al Qasr development at Suwaidi, situated to the south of Riyadh. The total built-up area of the shopping mall, which will have 800 shops, is 244,800 sq m.
Update: The completion date has been delayed until the fourth quarter.

King Abdullah Street Redevelopment in Riyadh – Phase One
Owner: Arriyadh Development Authority
Budget: $195 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of three lanes in each direction of the main road; multi-lane services roads in each direction; and a 10-m-wide path in the middle of the main road between the two directions for a planned electric train. Work also includes three subways, 185 m each, at Prince Turki First Road, Takhasusi Road and King Abulaziz Road interchanges; and a 700-m subway from King Fahad Road west to Alya Road east. The area above the 700-m subway will have service roads, green landscaping and space will be freed for the planned electric train main station. The scope of work also includes all related infrastructure and facilities including power and water distribution networks, sewage and storm transmission networks and telecommunication networks. The project aims to increase capacity of these roads from 190,000 to 520,000 vehicles per day.
Update: The project is on track for completion in August.

Two Aircraft Hangars
Owner: Saudi Arabia Ministry of Finance
Budget: $170 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of two aircraft hangars in Riyadh and Jeddah.
Update: The construction work has not been completed yet. The contract has been extended for six more months.

Community Complex in Divided Zone – Main Package
Owner: Al Khafji Joint Operations (KJO)
Budget: $140 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of 300 housing units, a marina, mosques, schools and shops.
Update: Construction work is in the completion stages.

King Abdullah Economic City – Red Sea Village (Bay La Sun Village) – Marina Towers
Owner: Emaar Economic City Company
Budget: $132 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of four six-storey residential buildings with 616 apartments in the Red Sea Village district in Rabigh. Each building has a built-up area of 30,000 sq m. The Marina Tower, featuring Red Sea-facing apartments, includes pools and children’s play areas.
Update: Completion date has been delayed due to financial issues.

Shams Alriyadh Project – Residential Units – Phase One – Reclamation
Owner: Dar Al Arkan Real Estate Development Company
Budget: $100 million
Scope of work: The project calls for undertaking the reclamation works for the first residential units within Shams Alriyadh Project.
Update: Reclamation work on the project has started.

UAE

Sharjah Marina
Owner: Burooj Properties
Budget: $4.087 billion
Scope of work: The project calls for a marina development covering over 10 million sq ft at the Al Khan Peninsula. The project will comprise commercial, residential, retail facilities and four hotels and one of the largest malls in the emirate.
Update: The project is still in the study phase.

Al Reem Island Development (Abu Shuoom Island Development – Emirates Pearl) – Najmat Project – The Wings
Owner: Dar Al Dhabi Holding
Budget: $450 million
Scope of work: The project involves the construction of two 300-m high, 75-storey residential and commercial towers at Najmat Project on Al Reem Island Development scheme. The project will offer a total built-up area of 480,000 sq m, providing one to three-bedroom apartments as well as penthouses and duplex apartments. The project has many facilities such as a shopping plaza and car-park.
Update: Design work is in  the finishing stage and tender documents for the main construction work is expected to be issued this month  (February).

Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Development – Rosewood Dubai
Owner: Daman Asset Management
Budget: $450 million
Scope of work: The project will involve the construction of a mixed-use complex providing residential apartments, offices, a 100-room five-star hotel and other retail facilities with a total built-up area of 1.6 million sq ft. Forming part of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) development, it will cover an area of 220,000 sq ft and include the construction of two buildings. The first building will consist of 14 storeys and will provide office facilities while the second building will have 65 storeys and will offer residential apartments and hotel facilities.
Update: Construction work is progressing as per schedule.

Dubai Marina Development – Ocean Heights
Owner: Damac Group Holding (Damac Properties)
Budget: $408 million
Scope of work: The project involves the construction of a 310-m-high, 82-storey residential building comprising 680 apartments, consisting of one- to three- bedrooms. It will be located at the Dubai Marina development and include leisure facilities such as a gymnasium, sauna, steam room, games room and children's play area. The building will provide parking space for 700 cars.
Update: Structure work is complete.

Marjan Island Development – Ras Al Khaimah – Marbella Bay
Owner: Manazil Real Estate
Budget: $407 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of the Marbella Bay waterfront which will form part of the Marjan Island Development in Ras Al Khaimah. The project will comprise 1,600 residential units and cover an area of 600,000 sq ft.
Update: Construction work is progressing as per schedule with completion targeted for December next year.

Culture Village Project (formerly Arabian Bays) – Palazzo Versace Hotel & D1 Residential Tower Building
Owner: Emirates Sunland Group
Budget: $400 million
Scope of work: The project will involve the construction of a five-star hotel that will comprise 215 luxury suites and 220 condominiums over an area of 130,000 sq m. It also includes an artificially-created temperature-controlled beach; and the construction of an 80-storey residential building (called D1).
Update: Construction work is progressing as per schedule.

South of Shamkha Development – Abu Dhabi – Masterplan
Owner: Abu Dhabi Municipality
Budget: $400 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of 10,000 villas in 43 neighbourhoods located 50 km south of Abu Dhabi Island. The project, covering an area of 43 million sq m, also includes car-parks, a green area, shops, mosques, hospitals, health clubs and entertainment areas.
Update: Contractors has been invited to submit their bids this month (February 10).

Al Jalila bint Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum Hospital
Owner: UAE Ministry of Public Works & Housing (MPWH)
Budget: $370 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the construction of a 200-bed children’s hospital featuring cardiac surgery, cancer and organ transplants departments. The facility will be situated near Al Wasl Hospital and Dubai Health Care City in Garhoud.
Update: The project is in the design phase.

Dubai Marina Development – Marina Quays Residential Complex
Owner: Emaar Properties
Budget: $365 million
Scope of work: The project involves the construction of a three-building residential complex consisting of a 39-storey tower (Marina Quays West) and two 12-storey buildings (Marina Quays North, East) that will comprise one- to three-bedroom apartments and villas, a gymnasium, swimming pool, squash court, aerobic studio, movie theatre, business centre and guest suite. The buildings will be connected by a common podium and will be situated along the waterfront of the Dubai Marina.
Update: Structural work is complete with handover set for March.

Khor Qurm Beach Development – Port of Arabia Project (Mina Al Arab) – 500 Villas
Owner: RAK (Ras Al Khaimah) Properties
Budget: $350 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of 500 villas located at Precinct Five, Six and Seven that will form a part of Mina Al Arab development in Ras Al Khaimah. The project also includes construction of roads and bridges, wastewater treatment and collection facilities, drainage, and installation of cables.
Update: Construction is 60 per cent complete.

Al Raha Beach Complex – Al Khubeira
Owner: Aldar Properties – Investment Holdings JV
Budget: $327 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of residential towers and waterfront villas which will form a part of Al Raha Beach Complex Development. The project will cover an area of 50,000 sq m.
Update: The project is now facing delays in bidding process.

Falcon Towers – Ajman
Owner: Real Estate Investment Company
Budget: $320 million
Scope of work: The project located downtown calls for the design and construction of seven residential towers and one office tower. The residential towers will consist of a ground floor, four parking levels and 20 residential storeys, each floor having six apartments. The office tower will have a ground floor, four parking floors and 23 storeys. The project will have many facilities such as shopping arcades, a games area for the children and a health club in each tower.
Update: Construction work is still going on.

Presidential Palace – Ras Al Akhdar Area – Abu Dhabi
Owner: Abu Dhabi Department of Presidential Affairs
Budget: $300 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of a new palace in the Ras Al Akhdar area in Abu Dhabi, located between the existing presidential palace and the Emirates Palace Hotel. The development includes a main palace and several smaller palaces, as well as villas for visiting dignitaries.
Update: Presidential Affairs Ministry has invited contractors to pre-qualify for a marine works package for the new presidential palace in Abu Dhabi.

Deerfield Town Square – Al Bahia area – Abu Dhabi
Owner: Mubarak and Brother Property and Financial Investments (MBI)
Budget: $272 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of a mixed-use development located in Al Bahia area of Abu Dhabi close to Dubai-Abu Dhabi Highway. It will comprise commercial, retail; residential, hospitality areas and a mall accommodate more than 200 retailers, shops, food-courts, a hypermarket, coffee shops and a 12-screen multiplex. The project, which will also include offices, serviced and residential apartments and a hotel, will cover an area of 840,000 sq m and comprise a total built-up area of 3.2 million sq ft.
Update: Mubarak and Brother Property and Financial Investments (MBI) invited contractors to submit their bids by the end of last month (January 31) for the main construction contract.

Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Development – One Central Park (Index)
Owner: Tanmiyat Group
Budget: $272 million
Scope of work: The project involves the construction of a 328-m high, 86-storey residential and commercial tower having 520 high-end residential apartments and 25 floors of office accommodation. The 520 apartments range from one- to three-bedrooms apartments (264 one-, 208 two-, 36 three-bed apartments, and 12 penthouses). The project offers 2,681 car parking spaces (768 residential spaces and 1,868 office spaces). The project will form part of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) development along Sheikh Zayed Road.
Update: Construction work is 67 per cent complete.

Saadiyat Island Development – Cultural District – New York University Campus
Owner: Mubadala Development Company
Budget: $272 million
Scope of work: The project involves the construction of an integrated university campus, located in the cultural district at Saadiyat island. The facility comprises lecture theatres, classrooms, a library, information technology buildings, laboratories, accommodation and sports facilities. The project will offer a total built-up area of 150,000 sq m.
Update: Mubadala Development has invited contractors to bid by February 10 for the contract to design and build New York University on Saadiyat island.

Jumeirah Park – 462 Villas
Owner: Nakheel
Budget: $272 million
Scope of work: The project involves the construction of 462 villas of three and four bedrooms that will be located between Shaikh Zayed Road and Emirates Road in Dubai, adjacent to the Jumeirah Islands development.
Update: The project is scheduled for completion in June.

Dubai Investment Park – The Green Community West
Owner: Properties Investment
Budget: $270 million
Scope of work: The 104-hectate project will involve the construction of 580 villas and 256 apartments to the west of the Green Community, off Emirates Road. It will also include six recreation centres and some landscaping components.
Update: Construction work is 90 per cent complete.
