Tall order boosts Hansgrohe profile

With more than 5,000 of its luxury fittings installed at the world’s tallest building – the Burj Khalifa, Hansgrohe has secured a crucial reference in its project portfolio to tap the business potential of the region

Hansgrohe, the German bathroom fittings and shower manufacturer, has supplied more than 5,000 fittings for the tallest building in the world – the 828-m Burj Khalifa in Dubai, UAE.

The washbasin mixers from the Axor Starck luxury collection were produced in the mixer manufacturing plant at Schiltach in the Black Forest, Germany, owned by Hansgrohe, which has been operating its own subsidiary in the UAE for several years.

Hansgrohe plans to capitalise on the business potential in the region by expanding its operations. As part of this strategy, the company was poised to launch a new subsidiary in Abu Dhabi last month as well as a new flagship store in Dubai – not far from the Burj Khalifa, according to Siegfried Gänsslen, chairman of the management board of Hansgrohe.

Commenting on the reputation that the company enjoys in the region in terms of reliability and efficiency, Gänsslen says: “We could secure supply contracts for prestigious projects like Masdar City and the new Formula One track in Abu Dhabi, besides the Burj Khalifa, because principals, property developers as well as architects and interior designers in this region rely on the strength of German innovation and high product quality,” adding that, “Hansgrohe was given a great deal of credit for not pulling out of the market in the face of the economic crisis, one of the reasons why we were able to land such prestigious projects.”

During its almost 109-year history, Hansgrohe has gained a reputation in the sanitation sector as one of the innovative leaders in technology and design. With its fittings, showers and shower systems, Hansgrohe creates products that make the bathroom more functional, more comfortable and more beautiful, says the company. This has enabled it to win prestigious projects such as the giant cruiser “Queen Mary II”, Terminal 5 of Heathrow Airport in London, the German Reichstag and the Chancellor’s office in Berlin, the Yoo luxury apartments in New York or the Masdar City Institute of Science and Technology in Abu Dhabi.
