The new Lipping kitchen model, designed to withstand heavy usage, has recently been launched on the Bahrain market

Bahrain-based Fareed Aluminium Centre, which claims to be pioneer in sandwich panelled aluminium kitchens in the country, has recently introduced a new kitchen model, which was promoted at the Gulf Industry Fair (GIF) last month.
The new kitchens – known as Lipping Model – are made of sandwich panels, where the door profiles are of silver anodised aluminium, in line with modern colour trends.
“The cabinets are different from our usual range of aluminium kitchens, with the sandwich panel doors and carcasses of the cabinets being made of high-pressure laminates (HPLs),” says a spokesman for the company,
He elaborates: “Laminated sheets are available in the market, but in this instance, these HPLs that are tailor-made for us with certain specifications, will work to the advantage of the end-user. Compared with what’s available in the market, they show superior properties even under laboratory conditions.”
HPLs used by Fareed Aluminium can be used for various applications as they are available in a choice of colours and textures, including those resembling wood and granite. The finishes available are glossy, matt, semi-glossy as well as grit finish, to suit the clients’ requirements, he says.
The worktops for the Lipping Model kitchens comprise 10-mm-thick HPL, according to the spokesman.
“HPLs can withstand heavy usage and abrasions; it is resistant to humidity, chemicals, heat and even fire, besides being durable and easy to maintain. It is flexible and can be fabricated into any geometric shape,” he points out.
Commenting on the production of these kitchens, company executive Mohammed Fareed says: “We fabricate our aluminium kitchens locally – we have even produced the die locally for the profiles of the panels. Hi-tech tools and machines are used to produce the panels and worktops, with the joints being hardly visible due to precise workmanship.”

Components for the Lipping Model as well as other kitchen ranges from Fareed Aluminium such as HPLs are imported from Lebanon, while the hydraulic upward opening door support hinges come from Italy, and the handles of anodised aluminium finish and kitchen accessories such as wire baskets and sinks are of European origin.
Fareed Aluminium Centre was launched in 1996 to produce aluminium kitchens.
“It was the first time that sandwich panelled doors for aluminium kitchen cabinets – along with individual cabinetry units – were introduced on the Bahrain market,” recalls the spokesman. “When we launched our products with these innovative features we received a considerable boost from the market. The response was so overwhelming that rival suppliers and manufacturers had to rethink their product strategy.”
Since then, the company has registered steady growth and has been able to carve a niche for itself or a “unique” market position for its product quality and after-sales services as its name itself suggests (Fareed is “unique” in Arabic), according to the spokesman.
Fareed Aluminium Centre has been regularly developing a wide range of models that cater to the tastes of its customers.
“We also took the bold step of introducing wooden coating on aluminium sections and sheets, giving customers a choice to switch between natural wooden doors and aluminium wooden doors. We also introduced a combo model with aluminium carcass as cabinets and natural wooden door frontage, which says a lot about our efforts to be ‘unique’,” he adds.
Apart from providing kitchens, the firm also provides aluminium vanity units, post-formed vanities, sliding and openable dressing room wardrobe units.
Its ongoing expansion resulted in the establishment of Fareed Aluminium Services, a division that specialises in the manufacture of aluminium doors and windows, including wooden-coated sections, thermal-break systems and curtain-walls.
At the GIF, the company also put the spotlight on its latest doors, which feature a three-way locking mechanism.
Fareed Aluminium is now eagerly awaiting the hand over in March, of its own purpose-built factory near Alba. The company, presently operating from a leased facility in Riffa, has already procured new machinery which has been installed at its existing factory.
Fareed Aluminium Centre has successfully carried out major large-volume orders for both the public and private sectors in addition to supplies to the GCC states.
The company has supplied its products for a 45-villa project in Saar, a 92-kitchen project for the Ministry of Housing, a 25-villa complex in A’ali and numerous residential buildings and smaller projects.
