CompAir percussive tools reduce vibration

01 February 2000

COMPAIR, a global compressed air and gas solutions provider, offers a range of percussive tools designed specifically to meet the requirements of the industrial and construction sectors.

The CompAir range includes chipping hammers, needle scalers and scabblers, a vibrator and a full complement of accessories. Vibration reduced options of these tools are available to minimise the risk of Vibration White Finger (VWF). The reduction of vibration increases the safe working period for the operator and helps maximise productivity, says a company spokesman.

"The tools have all been designed with operator safety in mind. The issue of Vibration Induced White Finger has been addressed by incorporating the vibration reduction technology in certain models that are available throughout the range. VR (vibration reduced) technology has proved to be advantageous to both employer and employee," he says.

''There are two chipping hammers within the range which have been designed specifically to improve levels of comfort and safety. VR technology minimises the vibration level to 3.5m/second square and allows longer periods of comfortable operation. These tools are suitable for use in many industries, from mortar removal in the construction sector to heavy-duty applications in metal foundries. They are also used extensively in the tool hire business,'' continues the spokesman.

The CompAir needle scalers also incorporate VR technology in two of the models offered. The extensive range of scalers is suitable for tasks such as paint removal, welding preparation and concrete dressing. High impact rates and the self-adjusting stroke of each needle ensure an overall coverage of the work area, including awkward shapes such as bolts, nuts, rivets and welds, he says.

Both single and triple-headed scabblers are available as vibration reduced versions. "The tungsten carbide steel pistons ensure suitability for all types of paint removal, metal surface preparation and concrete dressing. The simple design of these valveless tools ensures long tool life," he says.

Also available in the CompAir range is a vibrator for installation on hoppers, chutes and concrete blockmaking machines. A selection of power tools and other accessories are included in the range.

"The complete set of accessories available incorporates the revolutionary 'air fuse' which promises to improve the operational safety of all air equipment. The 'air fuse' protects the operators and other personnel in the event of an air hose failure by shutting off the air supply," he says.
