Bitunil roofing system for all seasons

01 May 2010

BITUNIL, the leading manufacturer of modified bitumen membranes in Egypt, has launched a range of Bitunil-IKO polymeric single-ply roofing systems, incorporating all of the components required to deliver a complete high-performance roof waterproofing system.

This comes as part of Bitunil’s ambitious plan to expand its product line and offer a diversity of roofing and waterproofing systems and complementary products alongside its modified bitumen membranes to accommodate different design parameters and project requirements.
Bitunil now offers IKO’s Armourplan PVC products as well as the TPE Spectraplan, a product range based on the latest polymer technology.
“These systems are well known for their sleek attractive finish, rapid clean installation, design flexibility and easy repair and refurbishment, ultraviolet stability and fire-retardant properties. They are also available in light reflective colours to promote energy-efficient construction,” says a spokesman for the company.
The Armourplan PVC range is highly resistant to chemical and industrial atmosphere, resistant to bacterial growth and to root penetration, and has the ability to retain its flexibility and physical characteristics in freezing conditions.
“The Spectraplan TPE range is based on a new generation of polymers (thermoplastic elastomers), which is 100 per cent recyclable into primary products, can be welded over a wide range of temperatures, is environment-friendly (no plasticisers, heavy metals, or ozone-depleting substances), is highly elastic like EPDM, is compatible with most construction materials including polystyrene and bitumen, and has excellent aging characteristics,” the spokesman adds.
Bitunil offers modified bitumen membranes (MBMs), which are designed to meet the requirements of most construction applications in various types of buildings. Its wide range of torch-applied and self-adhesive high-performance APP and SBS-modified bitumen membranes have superior mechanical properties to accommodate structural movements, and withstand tough site conditions. Some of these products include APP-modified membranes Bitubon and Bituter, the SBS-modified membranes Bituflex and Bitugum, and the self-adhesive membrane Nilo-Stick.
Bitunil was founded in 2000 by a group of well-established Egyptian, Arab, and European firms, with wide professional and industrial business experience and international exposure. Its plant is located over an area of 20,000 sq m in Alexandria, and is equipped with state-of-the-art production lines to manufacture high-quality products, in strict compliance with internationally-recognised standards. Its production line, considered to be one of the most advanced for the fabrication of MBM in the world, has a design capacity of 25 million sq m of MBM per annum.
