BAHRAIN

Diyar Al Muharraq – Phase One – 1,200 Residential Units
Owner: Kuwait Finance House (KFH)
Budget: $600 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of 1,200 residential units  associated facilities as part of Diyar Al Muharraq development. The development will cover a land area of 3 sq km.
Update: The tenders for the main contract are still to be issued.

Diyar Al Muharraq – Phase One – Infrastructure
Owner: Kuwait Finance House (KFH)
Budget: $400 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of water, electricity and sewerage networks and internal roads and bridges for the 6-sq-km first phase of the Diyar Al Muharraq mixed-use development located near Amwaj Island off the coast of Muharraq.
Update: The tenders for the main contract are still to be issued.

Diyar Al Muharraq – Phase One – Dredging & Reclamation – Stage One
Owner: Kuwait Finance House (KFH)
Budget: $203 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the dredging and placement of 35 million cu m of marine borrow material to reclaim a 6 million sq m area for the Diyar Al Muharraq mixed-use development. The project will be located north of Bahrain airport, close to Amwaj Islands off the coast of Muharraq.
Update: About 95 per cent of the work is complete.

Diyar Al Muharraq – Phase One – Dredging & Reclamation – Stage Two
Owner: Kuwait Finance House (KFH)
Budget: $190 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the dredging and placement of 45 million cu m of marine borrow material to reclaim a 6-million-sq-m area for the Diyar Al Muharraq mixed-use development. The project will be located north of Bahrain airport, close to Amwaj Islands off the coast of Muharraq.
Update: About 45 per cent of the reclamation work is complete.

Al Areen Desert Spa & Resort – Sunset Hills
Owner: Abu Dhabi Investment House (ADIH)
Budget: $100 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of a mixed-use residential and commercial project in Al Areen Development. It will comprise 10 villas, 41 townhouses and 10 six-storey buildings, which will have 100 apartments. Each apartment will offer one to three bedrooms and will include a garage. The  development will cover an area of 40,000 sq m with a total built-up area of 60,000 sq m.
Update: Construction work is 80 per cent complete.

Bahrain Approach Channel Dredging – Phase Two
Owner: Bahrain Ministry of Works
Budget: $30 million
Scope of work: The project comprises Phase Two of the dredging works for the Bahrain approach channel to accommodate ships with a draught of 15 m.
Update: Phase One of dredging Bahrain Approach Channel has been completed. Tendering for Phase Two dredging is expected soon.

KUWAIT

Kuwait Metro
Owner: Kuwait Ministry of Communications
Budget: $11.3 billion
Scope of work: The project involves the construction of a 165-km metro network. It will consist of four lines: Line One of the Kuwait Metropolitan RTS will be 23.7-km long with 19 stations; Line Two will be 21-km long with 27 stations; Line Three will be 24 km with 15 stations; and Line Four will be 22.7-km long. An extension of 57.3 km will be made on Line One and another one of 16.4 km on Line Two. About 65 per cent of the network will have to be underground. Kuwait metro will be built across the inner city of Kuwait and will be linked to the new Kuwait rail network.
Update: A tender for the 135-km line that will link to the GCC rail is expected to be issued by the middle of this year following completion of a review of technical and commercial documents.

Bubiyan Island Development – Phase Three (Seaport) – 36 Berths
Owner: Mega Projects Agency (MPA)
Budget: $11 billion
Scope of work: The project calls for expanding the seaport on Bubiyan Island by 36 new berths (from 24 to 60).
Update: The Ministry of Public Works is evaluating technical bids and expects to award Stage One of the seaport (four berths) in June. The ministry is also in talks with the Ministry of Energy to secure power for the seaport on Bubiyan Island.

Kuwait Railway
Owner: Kuwait Ministry of Communications
Budget: $10.5 billion
Scope of work: The project calls for the establishment of a rapid transit network within Kuwait on a design, build and operate (DBO) basis. The network will be linked to the national rail system with two new lines. The first track will run from the port city of Umm Qasr in Iraq on the northern border to Qasr on the border with Saudi Arabia in the south. The second line will run west from Kuwait City to the Saudi border at Salemy. A series of spur lines from these tracks will link the ports of Shuwaikh and Shuaiba, while a further branch will connect to Bubiyan Island. The project aims to link the GCC states to Europe.
Update: A tender for the 135-km line that will link to the GCC rail is expected to be issued by the middle of this year following completion of the review of technical and commercial documents.

Owner: Mega Projects Agency (MPA)
Budget: $3.6 billion
Scope of work: The project calls for expanding the seaport on Bubiyan Island by 12 new berths (from four to 16).
Update: Ministry of Public Works is evaluating technical bids and expects to award Stage One of the seaport (four berths) in June. The ministry is also in talks with Ministry of Energy to secure power for the seaport on Bubiyan Island.

Kuwait Railway – GCC Link
Owner: Kuwait Ministry of Communications
Budget: $3.5 billion
Scope of work: The project calls for constructing a 135-km rail between Sulaibiya and Nuwaiseeb at the Saudi border on a build-and-operate (BOT) basis. The line will connect Kuwait’s national rail network to the GCC rail network.
Update: Tender for the 135-km line that will link to the GCC rail is expected to be issued by the middle of this year following completion of a review of technical and commercial documents.

Bubiyan Island Development – Phase Two (Seaport) – Eight Berths
Owner: Mega Projects Agency (MPA)
Budget: $2.4 billion
Scope of work: The project calls for expanding the seaport on Bubiyan Island by eight new berths (from 16 to 24).
Update: The Ministry of Public Works is evaluating technical bids and expects to award Stage One of the seaport (four berths) in June. The ministry is also in talks with the Ministry of Energy to secure power for the seaport on Bubiyan Island.

Bubiyan Island Development – Phase One – Stage Two (Seaport) – Four Berths
Owner: Mega Projects Agency (MPA)
Budget: $1.2 billion
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of a container terminal, four berths and a quay wall as part of the Bubiyan Island Development. The development also includes port buildings and utilities, digging and soil improvement works and site levelling.
Update: Ministry of Public Works is evaluating technical bids and expects to award the contract next month (June). The ministry is also in talks with Ministry of Energy to secure power for the seaport on Bubiyan Island.

New University City in Shadadiyah (Sabah Al Salem University) – Infrastructure
Owner: Kuwait University
Budget: $690 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of campus infrastructure over an area of 6 million sq m in Shadidiyah, which will include a 15-km ring road, 6 km of tunnels, landscaping components and earthworks. The infrastructure work will cater for the Kuwait University.
Update: Heisco has been awarded an $18 million contract as the starting package of the infrastructure. The contract’s duration is 24 months.

Shuaiba Port Expansion
Owner: Kuwait Ports Authority (KPA)
Budget: $500 million
Scope of work: The project calls for expanding Shuaiba port through construction of new berths and increasing the depth and length of existing berths. The scope has two alternatives. Alternative A includes increasing depths of Berth Six from 10.5 m to 18 m and berths Seven and Eight from 12.5 m to 18 m; Increasing depths of berths Four and Five from 7.5 m to 18 m with 5 m extension seaward; increasing the depths of berths Nine and 10 from 14 m to 18 m; construction of new berths on the opposite side of berths 12, 13 and 14 seawards; and increasing the length of Berth 20 by 120 m and depth to 18 m. Alternative B includes increasing depths of berths Seven and Eight from 12.5 m to 18 m; construction of new berths of 18-m depth parallel to berths Six, Seven and Eight seawards; and construction of new berths of 18-m depth parallel to berths 12, 13 and 14 seawards.
Update: It is understood that Ministry of Finance is pre-qualifying consultants for the project.

Bubiyan Island Development – Phase One – Stage One (Infrastructure)
Owner: Mega Projects Agency (MPA)
Budget: $440 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of a 34-km-long road from the planned port’s location on the east side of Bubiyan to Khor Subiya in the west. The scope of work also includes a 1.4-km-long, three-lane road and land-bridge from Subiya to Bubiyan, about 4 million cu m of landfill, soil treatment works and railway embankment.
Update: The Ministry of Public Works is in talks with the Ministry of Energy to secure power for the seaport on Bubiyan Island.

New University City in Shadadiyah (Sabah Al Salem University) – University Hospital
Owner: Kuwait University
Budget: $300 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of the 600-bed University Hospital at a new university city in Shadadiyah.
Update: A tender for the college of engineering and petroleum has been invited, while the college of arts and education project is in the final stage of design and will be tendered soon. Work for the remaining colleges, buildings and other facilities will be tendered after completion of the designs.

Bubiyan Island Development – Phase One – Stage Three (Channel Dredging)
Owner: Mega Projects Agency (MPA)
Budget: $200 million
Scope of work: The scope of work includes dredging work for a 48-km-long, 260m-wide approach channel with a depth of 30 m, as part of the Bubiyan Island Development.
Update: Work on channel dredging is expected to go on alongside the work on the seaport.

New University City in Shadadiyah (Sabah Al Salem University) – Colleges of Social Science, Law and Shariah and Islamic Studies
Owner: Kuwait University
Budget: $90 million
Scope of work: The project calls for design and construction of colleges of social science, law and Shariah and Islamic Studies at a new university city in Shadadiyah.

Owner: Kuwait University
Budget: $18 million
Scope of work: The project calls for site preparation, earthwork and ground levelling for the 6-million-sq-m Sabah Al Salem University campus site.
Update: Heisco has been awarded an $18 million contract as the starting package of the infrastructure. The contract duration is 24 months.

OMAN

Muscat International Airport Expansion (Seeb) – Phase One – Dredging and Reclamation
Owner: Oman Ministry of Transport and Communications
Budget: $47 million
Scope of work: The package will involve the dredging and reclamation works for the Muscat International Airport expansion at Seeb.
Update: The commissioning of Muscat Airport expansion has been delayed until 2014 due to runway excavations challenges.

Sharqiyah Region Roads – Wadi Sharqi Roads
Owner: Oman Ministry of Transport & Communications
Budget: $24 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of Dima and Al Taiyyin internal roads in Wadi Sharqi.
Update: Construction work is in progress as scheduled.

QATAR

Al Waab City
Owner: Al Waab Development Company
Budget: $3.2 billion
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of the 1.25-million-sq-m of Al Waab City located along Salwa and Al Bustan Road, 10 km from the corniche. It will comprise 639 villas, seven-storey apartments, 88,000 sq m of retail space, a world-class 225-room hotel, 30 serviced apartments and a 300,000-sq-m car-parking area.
Update: Construction work is progressing as per schedule.

Barwa Al Sadd Development Complex
Owner: Barwa Real Estate Company
Budget: $341 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of a 300,000-sq-m mixed-use development in the Al Sadd area of Doha, to include four 21-storey office towers and four 10-storey residential buildings. The total built-up area of the development is 220,000 sq m.
Update: Construction work is progressing as per schedule.

Energy City – Business Park – Qatar Petroleum Complex
Owner: Qatar Petroleum (QP)
Budget: $300 million
Scope of work: The complex includes a main office tower and connected mid-rise office buildings. The project also includes a medical centre, training facilities, data and telecommunication centres, multi-storey car-parks, leisure and entertainment facilities and a stadium. The development will have a total built-up area of 540,000 sq m and 300,000 sq m of landscaping. The scope of works for Phase One entails enabling works and construction of car-parks and site offices. Two parking structures will have two basements and four levels each, will provide space over 180,000 sq m for 4,400 vehicles. The 3,500-sq-m site offices will accommodate 150 people and will include a car- park for 180 vehicles. The enabling works also include site fencing, construction of access roads, lighting, and access gates.
Update: Bids have been received for the car-park buildings and site offices.

Qatar World Trade Centre Tower
Owner: Qatar Insurance Company (QIC)
Budget: $142 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of a 55-storey office tower in the West Bay area of Doha. The development also includes a six-storey building, shaped in a sphere, to house an auditorium and business centre and a low-rise building for a convention centre. The total built-up area of the development is 140,000 sq m.
Update: Arabtec has been awarded the construction contract which is expected to be completed in 26 months.

Qatar Petroleum Complex
Owner: Qatar Petroleum
Budget: $100 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the construction of three office buildings for Qatar Petroleum in Ras Laffan.
Update: The tender has been cancelled due to commercial issues.

Energy City – Business Park – Qatar Petroleum Complex – Phase One

Budget: $30 million
Scope of work: The scope of work calls for enabling works and construction of car-parks and site offices. Two parking structures will have two basements and four levels each, will provide space over 180,000 sq m for 4,400 vehicles. The 3,500-sq-m site offices will accommodate 150 people and will include a car park for 180 vehicles. The scope of work also includes site fencing, construction of access roads, lighting, and access gates.
Update: Bids have been received for car-park buildings and site offices.

SAUDI ARABIA

King Abdullah Economic City
Owner: Emaar Economic City Company
Budget: $92.91 billion
Scope of work: The project calls for building an integrated city covering a development area of 168 million sq m along the Red Sea between Jeddah and Rabigh. It includes: a seaport over 13 million sq m with a  capacity to handle 300,000 pilgrims; an industrial district over 63 million sq m (Phase One covers 6.24 million sq m); a financial island over 3.8 million sq m; resorts over 3.5 million sq m; a residential area pread over 51 million sq m, which will include 150,000 apartments; and an educational zone including multi-university campus to accommodate 18,000 students.
Update: About 50 km of roads in King Abdullah Economic City have been completed.

King Abdullah Financial District – 28 Buildings
Owner: Public Pension Agency (PPC)
Budget: $2.91 billion
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of 28 buildings that will form part of King Abdullah Financial District in Riyadh.
Update: Construction work has commenced and is on schedule.

Makkah-Madinah Railway – Civil Package
Owner: Saudi Railways Organisation (SRO)
Budget: $1.8 billion
Scope of work: The package entails all civil works for the 444-km-long railway between the holy cities.
Update: Scott Wilson Group has been appointed to provide project management support for the Haramain Railway project.

King Khalid University (KKU) City in Abha – Phase Two – Medical Complex for Men
Owner: King Khalid University (KKU)
Budget: $800 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of a medical complex for men which will have nine buildings ranging from four to five storeys in height and a six-storey 400-bed student hospital building as part of the King Khalid University (KKU) City in Abha. The complex will include medical, dentistry and pharmacy colleges, and a library.
Update: Zuhair Fayez Partnership Consultants has been appointed as project management.

Dannat Resort
Owner: Al Khaleej Development Company (Tameer/Inovest)
Budget: $667 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of a 1 million-sq-m new resort at Half Moon Bay in Saudi Arabia. The development will include villas, apartments, a marina, commercial areas and a hotel.
Update: Design work is in the completion stage.

Holy Haram Mosque Expansion in Makkah – Northern Courtyard
Owner: Saudi Arabia Government
Budget: $500 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the expansion of the northern courtyard at Holy Haram mosque, covering an area of 500,000 sq m. The expansion is between the mosque and the Second Ring Road to the north and Masjid Al Haram Street to the east and Jabal Al Kaaba street to the west. The expansion will accommodate 500,000 worshippers.
Update: Work has started on the development.

King Abdullah Financial District – Six Towers – Package Two
Owner: Public Pension Agency (PPC)
Budget: $428 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of six residential and commercial towers of different heights that will form part of King Abdullah Financial District in Riyadh. The scope of work also includes a mosque.
Update: The project is progressing as per schedule.

King Abdullah Financial District – GCC Central Bank Tower
Owner: Public Pension Agency (PPC)
Budget: $400 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of the GCC Central Bank Tower that will form part of King Abdullah Financial District in Riyadh.
Update: Construction work has commenced and is on schedule.

King Abdullah Financial District – Two Towers – Package One
Owner: Public Pension Agency (PPC)
Budget: $375 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of two towers that will form part of King Abdullah Financial District in Riyadh. The development will include a 14-storey five-star hotel and a 27-storey office tower. The hotel will comprise 207 rooms, three restaurant and two coffee shops.
Update: The project is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2011.

Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport Expansion at Madinah – Terminal Building
Owner: Saudi Arabia General Authority of Civil Aviation (Gaca)
Budget: $350 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of new terminal building at Prince Mohammed Airport in Madinah. The terminal will cover an area of 256,000 sq m.
Update: Gaca invited interested parties with experience in the construction and operation of international airports to submit prequalifications last month (by April 18).

Taibah University in Madinah – Faculty Accommodation
Owner: Taibah University
Budget: $350 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of faculty accommodation buildings at Taibah University in Madinah. The project will include 400 apartments.
Update: The main construction contract is yet to be awarded.

King Abdullah Financial District – Four Towers – Package Three
Owner: Public Pension Agency (PPC)
Budget: $348 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of four residential and commercial towers of varying heights that will form part of King Abdullah Financial District in Riyadh.
Update: The project is progressing as per schedule.

King Abdullah Financial District – Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul)
Owner: Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul)
Budget: $300 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of a new headquarters for the Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) at the heart of King Abdullah Financial District in Riyadh.
Update: Nikken Sekkei has been acting as the project consultant.

King Abdullah Financial District – Four Towers – Package Four
Owner: Public Pension Agency (PPC)
Budget: $293 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of four residential and commercial towers of different heights that will form part of King Abdullah Financial District in Riyadh.
Update: The project is progressing as per schedule.

Jeddah Ring Road
Owner: Saudi Arabia Ministry of Transport
Budget: $177 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of a 90-km second ring road on the outskirts of Jeddah city. The road will be built alongside the existing ring road and will connect Durrat Al Aroos in north Jeddah to the air force base in south Jeddah. The new road is exactly parallel to Al Haramain Highway, 6 km to the east. A total of 15 interchanges will be built to link the two roads along a 90-km stretch.
Update: Phase Three of Jeddah Ring Road has been approved by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Transport.

Makkah Ring Road – Phase Two
Owner: Saudi Arabia Ministry of Transport
Budget: $150 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of a 6-km-long dual carriageway road as part of Phase Two of the Makkah Middle Ring Road project.
Update: The project is progressing as per schedule.

Tabuk University – Faculty Accommodation
Owner: Saudi Arabia Ministry of Higher Education
Budget: $107 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of faculty accommodation buildings at Tabuk University. The project will include apartments and villas.
Update: Foundation work has been completed.

Jeddah Ring Road – Phase Two
Owner: Saudi Arabia Ministry of Transport
Budget: $70 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of 15 km of the 90-km second phase of Jeddah Ring Road. The scope of work includes two separate interchanges.
Update: The project is progressing as per schedule.

Jeddah Ring Road – Phase One
Owner: Saudi Arabia Ministry of Transport
Budget: $53 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of 15 km of the 90-km Jeddah Ring Road. The scope of work includes four separate interchanges.
Update: The project is progressing as per schedule.

King Fahd Medical City in Tabuk – King Fahd Specialist Hospital
Owner: Saudi Arabia Ministry of Health
Budget: $50 million
Scope of work: The project calls for design and construction of a 500-bed, seven-storey hospital in King Fahad Medical City in Tabuk. The scope of work also includes a services building and a tunnel, administration, out-patient, kidneys dialysis buildings, a mosque, stores, and nurses accommodation buildings. The hospital will cover an area of 240,000 sq m.
Update: Project completion is expected late this year.

New Information Ministry Branch Building in Jeddah and Radio Studios – Phase One
Owner: Saudi Arabia Ministry of Culture and Information
Budget: $33 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of the new building of the ministry, 17 radio studios, a mosque and a generator building. The development is located within the existing complex of the Culture and Information Ministry on King Khaled Street in Jeddah.
Update: Project completion has been delayed to the middle of this year.

Al-Raha Beach Complex – Al Raha Gardens Community – Town Centre
Owner: Aldar Properties
Budget: $680 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of the town centre located at Al Raha Gardens Community on the Al Raha Beach development.
Update: The project is still in the design stage.

Emirates Park Towers Hotel & Spa – Dubai
Owner: Emirates Group
Budget: $490 million
Scope of work: The project will involve the construction of two, 80-storey high-rise tower buildings that will be situated at the entrance to Business Bay, next to the Dnata and Emirates Holidays buildings at Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai. Each building is anticipated to reach a height of 376 m. The development will comprise a total of 1,314 luxury five-star hotel rooms as well as 300 serviced residential apartments. Situated on a 20,000 sq m plot, it will also provide 20 restaurants, a rooftop bar, an entertainment centre, and banquet, ballroom and conference facilities.
Update: The southern tower will be operated by Marriott International when complete in May 2011. The northern tower will complete in 2013.

Adnoc Headquarters Complex – Abu Dhabi
Owner: Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc)
Budget: $490 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of a 342-m-high tower to house the new headquarters within the existing Adnoc complex at the intersection of the Corniche Road and Bainunah Street. The project will comprise 65-storey office tower, podium, basement and underground parking areas and a tunnel connecting the office tower with the underground parking. The project will offer a total built-up area of 190,000 sq m.
Update: Six Construct has been awarded a $490-million contract to build the Adnoc Headquarters Complex in Abu Dhabi. Construction work will start by the end of this month (May) and will take 36 months to complete.

Dubai Marina Development – Pentominium Tower
Owner: Trident International Holdings
Budget: $400 million
Scope of work: The project will involve the construction of a 512-m-high, 120-storey residential tower that will form a part of the Dubai Marina development. It will comprise residential apartments and penthouses. The project will offer a total built-up area of 171,500 sq m.
Update: Sheet piles supporting excavation corners are being removed.

Business Bay Development – Tamani Arts Offices
Owner: KM Properties
Budget: $354 million
Scope of work: The project will involve the design and construction of a 20-storey tower that will form Phase Two of Business Bay close to the Burj Dubai Views. The building will comprise mixed-use facilities including commercial, residential and a hotel as well as associated facilities. The total built-up area will be 75,348 sq ft.
Update: Completion could be delayed due to the slow pace of construction.

Capital Centre – Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre Expansion Project – Capital Gate (Feature tower)
Owner: Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (Adnec)
Budget: $264 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of a 160-m high, 35-storey mixed-use tower, which will form part of Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre expansion scheme. It will include a luxury hotel ‘Hyatt Hotels and Resorts’ with 189 rooms (162 guestrooms and 27 suites) and 20,000 sq m of office and retail space.
Update: The hotel is set to open early next year.

Eastern Ring Road Interchanges – Abu Dhabi
Owner: Abu Dhabi Municipality
Budget: $217 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of two interchanges on the eastern ring road that leads onto Salam Street from the Maqta Bridge area.
Update: Construction is in progress to be completed by the first quarter of next year.

Burj Dubai Development – 29 Burj Dubai Boulevard Residences (Frank Williams Tower)
Owner: Emaar Properties
Budget: $200 million
Scope of work: The project will involve the construction of a 44-storey residential tower, with apartments varying in size from studios to two-bedroom units. It will form part of the Burj Dubai development scheme. The podium will feature a health club, a roof garden, a swimming pool, a multi-purpose room, children's wading pool, kid’s play area, and a resort-style pool deck.
Update: Completion has been delayed to February 2012 due to financial issues.

Luxury Hotel – Al Khan Beach – Sharjah
Owner: Sheikh Abdullah bin Salim Al Qassimi
Budget: $177 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the construction of a 343-room hotel at Al Khan beach in Sharjah.
Update: Emco Building and Contracting has been awarded the main construction contract that will take 30 months to complete.

Hulayla Industrial Park Expansion – Ras Al Khaimah – Marina Works Package
Owner: Ras Al Khaimah Government
Budget: $95 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of a 2,500-m-long water channel, which will be dredged to a depth of 7 m. It will be part of Hulayla Industrial Park expansion in Ras Al Khaimah.
Update: Construction is progressing slower than scheduled.

Baniyas Towers – Abu Dhabi
Owner: Aldar Properties
Budget: $90 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of two office towers located in the heart of Abu Dhabi. The project will have a built-up area of 42,000 sq m. The total built-up area of the parking facilities will be 36,000 sq m.
Update: Finishing work is in progress.

Saadiyat Island Development – Park Hyatt Hotel
Owner: Abu Dhabi National Hotels Company (ADNH)
Budget: $70 million
Scope of work: The project calls for the design and construction of a five-star hotel with 250 rooms, 50 chalets located on the Saadiyat Island Development in Abu Dhabi. Covering an area of 484,400 sq ft, it will also comprise restaurants, swimming pools, a beach club, a health spa and parking space.
Update: The hotel is set to open early next year.

Business Bay Development – Tamani Hotel at Park Lane
Owner: KM Properties
Budget: $57 million
Scope of work: The project will involve the construction of a 34-storey building that will form a part of the Business Bay scheme. The building will comprise mixed-use facilities including commercial, residential and retail units as well as associated facilities. The commercial section is from the first to 17th floor, while floors 19 to 33 will comprise the hotel. The total built-up area of the project is 64,000 sq m.
Update: Completion could be delayed due to the slow pace of construction work.

Dubai Marina Development – Trident Grand Residence
Owner: Trident International Holdings
Budget: $54 million
Scope of work: The project will involve the construction of a 45-storey tower that will form a part of the Dubai Marina development. The building will comprise 212 residential apartments offering two to three bedrooms, 35 one-bedroom apartments, and six penthouses.
Update: Finishing work is in progress. Handover is expected in May.

Business Bay Development – B2B Tower
Owner: KM Properties
Budget: $30 million
Scope of work: The project will involve the design and construction of a 20-storey tower that will form the centrepiece of the Business Bay development scheme. It will comprise 180 single unit offices and other associated facilities over an area of about 4,534 sq m.
Update: Completion could be delayed due to the slow pace of construction work.
