Elkay marks eight decades of success

01 February 2000

Elkay of the US celebrated its 80th anniversary at the end of last month. Founded in 1920 in Chicago, the firm is currently a leading manufacturer of stainless steel sinks, water coolers, drinking fountains and faucets for residential and commercial use.

''From its early days, Elkay has been a pioneer in embracing new technologies and implementing innovative programmes,'' says a spokesman for the company. ''It was the first to manufacture a full line of kitchen sinks made of stainless steel.''

Meanwhile, a number of developments have been taking place at the company. Elkay has launched new models for the new millennium. The new water cooler range includes barrier-free models, no lead models and Design 2000 coolers with Elkay's exclusive WaterSentry filter system.

It has brought out a 46-page colour catalogue featuring photos, descriptions and dimensional drawings of its water coolers, drinking fountains, filters, chillers and accessories.

Elkay has also updated and enhanced its website (www.elkay.com), making it more visually appealing and easier to navigate, according to the spokesman. The web site is broken down into sections on sinks, water coolers and drinking founts and custom, institutional and scullery products.

''One of the unique features of the site is the section which provides up-to-date product specifications to engineers, contractors and anyone seeking this type of information,'' he adds.
