ITALY’S Savio has introduced new lines of high-quality hinges and panic hardware for aluminium windows and doors, some of which were displayed at The Big 5 Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Jeddah at the end of last month.
Among its latest products are Mechanica hinges, which promise high strength, durability and reliability. These hinges can be used for door applications with counterplates or screws, and have been tested following CE norms for 180 kg (EN 1035) and one million test cycles.
“Besides CE marking, a compulsory European testing standard for all locked doors on escape routes, Mechanica’s two and three-winged hinges also boast burglary resistance recognition from the Dutch SKG,” says Pressi Alessandro, Savio’s international sales director.
The hinges are covered by five patents and come in versions of two or three leaves, with a centre of rotation either at 20 or 36 mm, and a wide range of mounting centre distances.
Also offered by Savio is the Summa line, the new heavy-duty hinges specifically for doors manufactured using window profiles. These hinges are robust, always aligned (axial version) and have a quick clamping system with pre-assembled counterplates. They are also come with easy and independent adjustments.
“Summa hinges have been tested according to EN 1935:2002 standards, and are suitable for all principal window profiles,” says Alessandro.
In addition, Savio teamed up with Pininfarina (the designer of Ferrari) to design the Bernini push bar panic device bearing the CE mark (tested up to two million cycles) and the Cellini touch bar panic device (CE mark pending). They both meet requirements of European standards UNI EN 1125 and have been tested by the French Afnor certification institute. The tests were carried out at the prestigious Cetim Institute at St Etienne (France).
The bars have an ergonomic design, come with one, two, or three locking points, and can be used for wood, iron, aluminium and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) doors, being easily fitted with ordinary accessories.
Cellini is provided with a horizontal graspable bar for easier re-shutting of the door. “Quick and easy installation is possible, thanks to the use of counter-plates, which allow application on standard profiles and final assembly directly at the work site,” says Alessandro.
The high degree of security against intrusion from outside, the efficiency of the mechanisms, the top quality materials and finishes ensure good long-term performance. “The panic devices are supplied either fully assembled in an individual pack or in separate modular kits to allow each user to choose the preferred modular construction,” concludes Alessandro.
