AS DUBAI waits for a glimpse of the stately façade of the Palazzo Versace Dubai to emerge from behind the scaffolding that currently dresses it, the emirate’s newest luxury fashion house hotel is making noticeable headway towards completion.
Construction work on the 4.3-hectare luxury residences and hotel development is more than 87 per cent complete, according to the project developer Emirates Sunland Group.
“The façade installation with its embellishments is progressing well with façade treatments to the condominium wings closest to the creek now complete,” says a spokesman for Emirates Sunland Group. All areas of the hotel façade (including condominiums) facing the street are now complete up to level nine. Work on the final area of the main building’s façade facing the creek has commenced, as has the moulding work and panelling to the lower feature façade arches.
In addition, painting of the façade is well under way with installation of the final decorative metal panels in progress. The exterior of the hotel is beginning to take shape, as the scaffolding is removed and the detailed façade treatments are revealed.
Work is also advancing on the landscaping features in all outdoor areas of the development. The pool contractor is now working on the main pool and water features to the east lagoon area.
Being developed at the cost of Dh2.3 billion ($626 million), the luxury property is the second of its kind in the world and is poised to be one of the UAE’s most outstanding hotel and residential resorts.
The building’s design reflects world-famous palace layouts with the central area allocated for the hotel facilities and the Ala Sinistra and Ala Destra (the left and right wings) for the private condominiums.
The project is being developed by Emirates Sunland Group and Versace and is being built by the Dubai-based Arabtec construction firm. Part of the Culture Village development, it is located between Garhoud Bridge and the new Ras Al-Khor Bridge directly opposite Dubai Festival City.
The project will have a built-up area of more than 170,000 sq m within its 10-storey hotel and eight-storey condominium.
The hotel will offer 169 private residences and 213 super-luxury hotel suites, with a range of furniture and furnishings all exclusively designed by Versace for the hotel and condominiums.
The hotel comprises 146 rooms, 47 suites, 18 attic suites and two imperial suites.
Palazzo Versace’s luxury condominiums are accommodated in its two wings and offer two one-bedroom, 80 two-bedroom, 64 three-bedroom, 18 four-bedroom, three five-bedroom and two six-bedroom units. With the condominiums forming part of the hotel, owners can avail of the services and facilities of the hotel.
Commenting on work under way on the condominiums, the spokesman says: “The structures on the level 8 condominium terraces are complete, and the pool contractor has commenced work on pools for the upper level condominiums.
“Work is in progress on the interiors of the condominiums with plasterboard sheeting and mouldings complete to levels eight. Two additional show apartments, Type 2B and 2C, are in the process of being completed with furnishings. Meanwhile, stone and mosaic feature installation is advancing on level three of the condominium wings.”
The Palazzo Versace will feature several dining experiences including its renowned Vanitas fine dining restaurant. Leisure facilities will include a health spa, gymnasium, ballroom and convention facilities and Versace boutique, all set in landscaped grounds.
