STIRLING Lloyd, a specialist in the development, manufacture and application of high-performance waterproofing and structural protection membranes and systems, intends to intensify its export drive on the back of surging international sales.
The company has experienced continued growth in the Middle East, building on the foundation of a track record in the region going back more than 20 years in key waterproofing markets such as bridges, tunnels, structural waterproofing and the water industry.
Recent successes have included major strategic projects such as the Isa Town Gate Interchange in Bahrain, New Doha International Airport in Qatar, Al Zeina Raha Beach Development and Yas Tunnel in Abu Dhabi, and ZamZam water tanks in Saudi Arabia.
“With an unrivalled track record of providing quality product and service to the region, Stirling Lloyd’s future looks extremely bright, a claim supported by a strong start to 2011 and the internal growth within the company,” says a company spokesman.
The company has responded to continued year-on-year growth of its international sales by restructuring its export division and announcing significant new appointments to help manage overseas expansion.
Accordingly, Ian Dawson has been promoted to export manager, just over a year after joining the business as development manager for exports. “An experienced industry professional, Ian was previously group marketing manager for international flooring company Flowcrete and prior to that covered business development in the Middle East and Africa for BASF. He has worked for a number of years in the Far and Middle East and will now be responsible for managing all global markets, excluding the US,” says the spokesman.

At the same time, Daniel Riley, 30, has joined the export sales team as regional sales manager responsible for developing business in the Asia Pacific region. “Formerly, a specification and technical sales manager for Aggregate Industries, Daniel has an excellent track record in construction and building materials and will help develop the export potential of some of Stirling Lloyd’s most successful new product lines,” adds the spokesman.
Commenting on these appointments, export director John Volpicelli says: “Our export division has shown significant yearly growth over the last six years and our waterproofing and structural protection systems are now specified on many of the world’s leading construction and civil engineering projects.
“As we look to capitalise on our increased global recognition and continue to develop new geographic opportunities, we need a robust management structure and strong international sales team to successfully oversee the growth.”
Established over 30 years ago in Knutsford, UK, with a single-minded commitment to developing new and more effective ways to extend the life of structures, Stirling Lloyd has become a leading developer and manufacturer of waterproofing and structural protection coatings.
The company’s waterproofing and membrane systems are used extensively to protect some of the world’s most important structures, ranging from road and rail bridge decks and tunnels to commercial building developments, car-parks and highway maintenance applications.
Stirling Lloyd has a worldwide network of agents and authorised contractors, providing a representation far beyond its UK base, in Europe, North America, the Middle East and Asia Pacific.
