THIS year has seen Terex Finlay launch two new machines – a cone crusher and a heavy-duty screener – with a third innovation, an inclined screener, set to make its debut by the end of this year.
These machines include the Terex Finlay C-1550, which is the largest cone crusher launched to date by Terex Mobile Processing Equipment (MPE) and the Terex Finlay 863 tracked mobile heavy-duty screener, which were introduced on the market earlier this year, and the Terex Finlay 684, which was previewed at the recent SteinExpo, an international demonstration show for the construction industry, held in Germany last August.
Terex Finlay C-1550, the latest addition to Terex MPE’s range of tracked mobile cone crushers, joins the successful and proven Terex Finlay C-1540 and C-1540RS models.
The machine incorporates the Terex 1300 cone crusher driven by direct drive, and features an innovative optional pre-screen module with a single-deck 2.45 m by 1.52 m screen for removal of fines from the feed material. The integrated chute system below the prescreen allows the fines material to be discharged from the machine using the optional by-pass conveyor or reintroduced onto the main product conveyor.

“Both methods improve the plant throughput capacity and product flexibility and reduce liner wear,” says a spokesman for Terex Finlay.
The pre-screen module can be used to produce a product from the optional by-pass conveyor, if used.
The cone features a variable speed drive, hydraulic tramp relief system and the ability to change closed side setting (CSS) while crushing. The large hopper/feeder (with 8 cu m standard capacity) has an automated metal detection and a purge system to protect the cone and reduce downtime by removing metal contaminants from the feed belt.
Furthermore, the hydraulically adjustable feed conveyor allows the machine to be operated using either the innovative prescreen system or, if required, by feeding directly into the cone.
Terex Finlay 863
The new Terex Finlay 863 is a highly versatile and adaptable machine engineered and built for working in quarrying, mining, construction and demolition debris, topsoil, recycling, sand, gravel, coal and aggregate applications where site space is at a premium.

The 684 tracked mobile inclined screen ... highly versatile. |
This aggressive forward-facing inclined modular configuration screenbox has a 2,755 mm by 1,200 mm top deck and a 2,755 mm by 1,200 mm bottom deck. Depending on the working application of the machine, the screen box angle can be adjusted hydraulically between 14 and 18 degrees. The top deck of the screenbox can be fitted with a variety of screening media, including tines, bofor bars, punched plate and mesh. The bottom deck can be fitted with mesh or cascade fingers.
A high-performance 1,000-mm four-ply belt feeder, with hydraulic gearbox drive, is fitted to the machine as standard and has proven performance and versatility in demanding and varied working environments, says the spokesman. The hopper has a 5 cu m capacity as standard.
The machine is equipped with three hydraulically folding discharge conveyors, allowing for maximum stockpiling capacity and associated benefits of rapid set-up and tear down times. The oversize conveyor angle can be hydraulically adjusted from 15 to 24 degrees.
A Deutz 2011 49 kW (66 hp) air-cooled engine is used to power the machine. The heavy-duty crawler tracks, and optional radio remote control unit, make on-site mobility easy.
An additional key feature of the machine is hydraulic raising of the screenbox (up to 500 mm) discharge end to provide additional clearance for screenbox and fines transfer conveyor maintenance. The plant has the capacity to process at a rate of up to 250 tonnes per hour and can be fed either by a tracked mobile crusher or an excavator.
“Another highlight of this fully self-contained plant is that it can be hydraulically folded and ready for transport in less than 30 minutes making it the ideal machine for contract screening,” the spokesman points out.
Terex Finlay 684
Following the successful launch of the Terex Finlay 863, the company is set to introduce the Terex Finlay 684 by the end of this year. This tracked mobile inclined screen, like the 683, is a highly versatile and adaptable machine engineered and built for working in similar applications.
The Terex Finlay 684 is a compact, easily transportable machine that offers operators rapid set-up and tear down times. The new screenbox on the Finlay 684 features three full-size 4.3 m by 1.7 m inclined decks giving a large screening area of 21.9 sq m to provide efficient screening and high capacity.
The screenbox features quick wedge tensioning, access holes and bottom deck hydraulic tensioning system to reduce time required for mesh changes. All four discharge conveyors hydraulically fold for transport. The fourth product ‘oversize plus’ conveyor can work at varying angles (15 to 24 degrees) to accurately discharge material for recirculation and stockpiling.
It has a high-performance 1,050-mm belt feeder and compared to the Terex Finlay 863 has a larger 8 cu m capacity hopper as standard, which can be fitted with a 14-ft tipping grid or 12-ft vibrating grid. It has four hydraulically folding discharge conveyors and is powered by a Caterpillar C4 82 kW (111 hp) air-cooled engine.
The Terex Finlay 684, too, can be hydraulically folded and is ready for transport in less than 30 minutes.
