Smart choice for projects in region

01 December 2011

SMART Architectural Systems, a global aluminium systems developer, is promoting its structural glazing facade system SG-400 series for projects in the region.

The systems features a unique design and profile shapes, which can ease fabrication and installation, accessories with fitting as per international standards Euro Groove, and a set of gaskets that also ensures wind resistance, air-infiltration tightness and prevents water penetration, which are the most important factors that determine the energy efficiency of the facade systems, says Dr Ibrahim Nassar, general manager.

Smart’s management believes that the product development should cover all the details in the drawing of the project in order to tackle the tough operating conditions, he says.

Dr Nassar says the products are developed in accordance with Italian design specifications to withstand the climatic conditions of the Middle East; they are also designed to suit the Islamic architecture of the region.

The SG-400 series has undergone testing as per ASTM standards.

Dr Nassar elaborates: "This includes air infiltration tests as per ASTM E283-04 at positive pressure differential of 300 Pa for the fixed glazing and 600 Pa for the opening glazing; water penetration as per ASTM E331-00 in which water is sprayed on the sample at 3.4 litres per sq m per min, with the differential pressure of 300 Pa applied across the sample and maintained for 15minutes; and wind resistance as per ASTM E330-02, where positive and negative differential pulse of +968 Pa and +1938 Pa is held on the sample for 10 seconds, with a recovery period of one to five minutes.

Smart attributes its success to its motto of ‘quality services and innovation’ which the company implements in each product and project. "It is our policy to actively and continuously improve the quality of our products, process and services in order to satisfy the expectations and aspirations of our valued customers," says Dr Nassar.

The company offers a comprehensive range of architectural aluminium solutions for windows and doors including sliding and casement (thermal and non thermal break), curtain-walling, structural and semi-structural glazing and skylights.

Smart Architectural Systems was established in 2002 at Sharjah Airport International Free Zone (Saif Zone), UAE. The company has spread its wings around the globe and has undertaken prestigious projects in the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Yemen, Jordan, Sudan, Kuwait, Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia, where the Ministry of Education has approved Smart systems for government schools. In addition, Smart Thermal series is approved by Sharjah municipality.
