Hormann high-speed doors hit market

01 January 2012

HORMANN Middle East has recently expanded its product line with the introduction of WA 300 operator and the HS 7030 PU spiral high-speed door, which are designed for optimised material flow and improved efficiency.

HS 7030 PU, which is suitable for both internal and external applications, is a powerful spiral door with foamed sections and micrograin surface finish that epitomises modern industrial design, says a spokesman for Europe’s leading manufacturer of doors for private, commercial and industrial applications.

The combination, with the powerful three-phase frequency converter control, enables opening speeds of up to 2.5 m per sec.

Elaborating on the product’s innovative technology and design, the spokesman says: “The sections are securely guided in a spiral bracket for especially fast opening speeds and precise door travel. Due to the non-contact roll-up technology utilised for the HS 7030 PU, there is no wear on the door sections, which helps the door retain its appearance for a long time.”

In addition, the standard frequency converter control takes stress off the entire door mechanism, extending the service life of the door. The HS 7030 PU has uniformly foamed steel sections. Hot galvanised, double-skinned sections with polyurethane (PU) rigid foam infill provide for particularly high thermal insulation. The doors are supplied in white aluminium as standard. The exterior façade of the door is characterised by the fine micrograin lines, while on the interior, the sections are stucco-textured.

The high-speed spiral door was originally developed to replace the traditional two-door solution of a high-speed curtain door, for frequent daytime access, with a sectional outer door for night-time security.

“Completely redesigned, this new version is a technical leap forward since it uses PU foam to give strength while also providing both thermal and acoustic insulation. The 42-mm-thick insulation is the same as that used in the highly popular SPU sectional door, where a single panel has a thermal U value of only 0.5 W/sq m K. For a complete spiral door with a surface area of 25 sq m, an impressive U value of only 1.95 W/sq m K is achieved,” he says. “Unlike similar doors, the double-skinned panels are linked by hinges which add greater stability, resulting in even more reliable operation and increased service life. Double-glazed panels with Hormann’s highly scratch-resistant Duratec are also available for vision panels and natural lighting.”

Meanwhile, the WA 300 is an industrial door operator that facilitates gentle and quiet door travel. It requires minimum fitting effort and eliminates the need for a closing edge safety device or cable slack switch. As a result, there is no need for wiring on the door leaf.

The new operator solution, which comes with integrated control as standard, offers a range of benefits. It can be extended with an external radio receiver. The control button and maintenance release directly on the operator and programming is done via DIP switches. The WA 300 features optional quick release for emergency operation and has one relay output to connect, for example, warning lights or locking for a dock leveller. An optional ‘open-close-stop’ push button can be installed on the unit.
