FOIBOS has employed its Czech excellence in the art of glassmaking at landmark projects in the Middle East, creating dazzling fixtures that have enhanced the ambiance of their prominent settings.
Recent projects implemented through its Middle East branch based in Bahrain showcase glass in architecture and artworks, created utilising low energy methods and PbO-free or lead-free glass, all crafted and manufactured in the Czech Republic.

These creations that epitomise Foibos’ extensive experience in glass-making and glass art include custom-made chandeliers, sculpture lighting as well as artworks and architectural ornamentation.
“Bohemian glass has been a byword for outstanding workmanship of lasting aesthetic value,” says a spokesman for Foibos. “A celebration of ultimate creativity, Bohemian glass is widely recognised for its interaction with innovative trends in art, architecture and design and uses to utmost advantage the versatility that glass provides with its transparency, ability to refract and reflect light, brilliance and beauty of colour.”
He says the Czech Republic is famous for such art from the middle of the last century and Foibos carries forward the country’s long tradition in decorative glass.
One of Foibos’ recently created custom-made chandeliers adorns the Hyatt Capital Gate Abu Dhabi, a premium business hotel located on floors 18 to 33 of Abu Dhabi’s iconic Capital Gate building, which leans a record-breaking 18 degrees.

Foibos has also developed and executed designs for the public area chandeliers at the newly-refurbished InterContinental Regency hotel in Bahrain.
Also in Bahrain, it has displayed its creativity in producing unique vase sculptures adorning the lobby of the Kempinski Grand and Ixir Hotel Bahrain City Centre.
Another stunning sculpture produced and executed by Foibos Design is the Coral Tree designed by Jiri Suhajek. The singular piece, which was unveiled during Index 2007 and Jewellery Arabia 2007, constitutes a giant glass crystal sculpture with hand-blown segments and spirals fixed to a stainless steel frame stand. It is 300 cm high and has a diameter of 180 cm with colours including aquamarine, sapphire, olive green, cobalt blue, opal, green, sea green, sea blue, clear crystal, and underlay colours.
“The sculpture creates a dramatic depiction of colourful vibrance amidst a backdrop of the dry desert. As such, it holds symbolic significance to the Middle East region and is designed specifically for VVIP areas or royal lounges and other key locations,” says the spokesman.
Foibos offers its clients support right from the conceptual development stage to the last details of execution, providing turnkey services that achieve aesthetic standards in line with its tradition of excellence in glass art.
