THE UAE stole the show at the 2012 Hospital Build Awards held last month (June 4 to 6) in Dubai as part of the Hospital Build & Infrastructure Middle East Exhibition & Congress.
The UAE won five of the eight awards, including the most coveted titles such as Best Hospital Design (Built) for Burjeel Hospital, Best Sustainable Hospital Project for Sheikh Khalifa Medical City by HAAD and ITS, and Best Physical Environment for Dubai Health Authority’s Dubai Diabetic Centre.
Winners in the other categories included: Best Hospital Design (Future) for Cannon Design for the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre, Saudi Arabia; Best Technology Initiative for surgical technology innovative facility by Hamad Medical Corporation, Qatar; Best Healing Environment for International Medical Centre, Saudi Arabia; and Best Initiative to Improve Health Care Facilities for HAAD Health Facility Guidelines, UAE.
The Hospital Build & Infrastructure Middle East Exhibition also hosted the inaugural Hospital Build Architect’s Congress, which aimed at defining the international benchmark for healthcare design and focused on how design flaws can impact patient health and safety.
