RAK Ceramics plays key role in global projects

RAK Ceramics of the UAE, a world-class ceramic manufacturer, is currently playing a major role in various landmark projects in Saudi Arabia like the King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) in Riyadh, the Sheraton Hotel, Jeddah and Najran University.

Saudi Arabia is the largest overseas market for RAK Ceramics, accounting for some large-scale and high-profile projects which include the Princess Nora Bint Abdul Rahman University, the world’s largest women’s university in Riyadh, to which RAK Ceramics supplied 90 per cent of all the tiles; the Ministry of Education building in Dammam; and the King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah.

The company has supplied ceramic tile and bathware to numerous high-profile projects across the Middle East and around the world. Ongoing projects in the Middle East include Muscat International Airport and Parliament House in Oman and International Airport and Training Centre in Ethiopia.

Some of RAK Ceramics’ major bathware projects includes the IBA Hotel, Doha, Qatar; Movenpick Hotel and Resorts in Tala Bay, Jordan; the Etihad Tower in Abu Dhabi, UAE; the University of New South Wales Kingston in Sydney, Australia; and the Jumeirah Beach Residence in Dubai, UAE.

RAK Ceramics has played a major role in landmark projects both in the public and the private sector, executing projects that range from large distribution chains and retailers, top construction companies and well known real estate developers.

The company has a track record of supplying one of the largest quantities of tiles for any project in the Middle East, says a company spokesman.

“For instance, RAK Ceramics was involved in the expansion of one of the busiest international airports in the world – Dubai International Airport –  to which its supplied 120,000 sq m of tiles, enhancing the quality and aesthetic appeal of the airport, which had a project value of $1.7 billion,” he says.

RAK Ceramics is one of the leading tile providers in Qatar and has supplied to several landmarks including Barwa City, a major residential project spread over 2.7 million sq m with an estimated project value of QR4.8 billion ($1.3 billion).
“It supplied high-performance stunning gres porcellanato and ceramics tiles exclusively for this urban-styled residential project,” the spokesman says.

Internationally, the company has supplied to prominent landmarks across Germany, Italy, France and the UK.

RAK Ceramics has contributed to both large and high-profile international projects such as Heathrow airport and Wembley Stadium in London, UK; DaimlerChrysler Mercedes showrooms in Europe, the Olympic Village (2004) in Athens, Greece; the Grand Hyatt in Washington DC in the US; and Armani’s flagship store in Italy among others.
