Eurobend makes cage assembly easy

With the addition of Easyweld to its PL series, Eurobend has significantly boosted its welding lines. Fast, accurate and efficient assembly of reinforcement cages is now possible with Easyweld.

EUROBEND, a specialist European manufacturer of advanced technology machinery, has recently boosted its comprehensive range of welding lines – the PL series – with the addition of Easyweld.

The PL series, which covers every wire mesh production demand, is characterised by its design simplicity, minimal maintenance requirements and adaptability to every production requirement. It uses the latest servo-motor technology, with user-friendly software and advanced operation monitoring systems.

Easyweld is designed for the fast, accurate and efficient assembly of reinforcement cages. On this series, the stirrups are loaded during the cage assembly process, providing continuous operation. Also, the support bars are welded inside the cage assembly, contributing the column reinforcement and each welding is carried out with material addition, through the four robotic MIG (metal inert gas) stations used.

The PL series of mesh welding lines is divided into different categories depending on the type of mesh produced and/or the sector served including the PLR I, PLR II, PLC, PL X-Y, PL SF, PLT, PLT B, PL Tris, PL RM Roll series, and the latest addition, Easyweld.

PLR I

According to a spokesman for the company, the PLR I series offers unique flexibility in the production of wire mesh in the form of sheets (and optionally in the form of mesh rolls) since the independent welding heads can be accurately placed at different distances to achieve different line wire spacing.

Feeding options for both the line and cross wires include either fully-automatic feeding systems from coils – utilising powered pay-off stations or reel carriers – or semi-automatic systems, using manual preloading wire carriers for the line wires and hopper-type feeders for the cross wires.

Optionally, cross wires can be fed through multi-line straightening machines (MELC series), which feature Eurobend’s rotor straightening principle, offering exceptional straightening results and automatic wire diameter changeover.

The PLR I series also includes entry-level versions, where both the line and cross wires are fed manually. Due to its modular design, even the entry level machines can be easily and efficiently upgraded and equipped with automatic wire coil feeding systems, mesh turning and stacking, mesh rolling devices, among other systems. Standard operation speed for the PLR I series is 120 strokes (cross wires) per minute.

PLR II

For increased output, the PLR II series, featuring double cross wire feeding, offers operation speeds up to 200 strokes (cross wires) per minute. Due to its high-speed operation, this series uses automatic wire feeding from a coil for both the line and cross wires as well as high-speed mesh cutters. Optional items such as mesh turning, mesh stacking and mesh rolling devices are available.

For even higher output demands, certain versions of the PLR II series can produce two meshes simultaneously reaching and even exceeding speeds of 400 strokes (cross wires) per minute.

PLC

The PLC series is equipped with heavy-duty hydraulically-driven welding heads, for the production of meshes with wire diameters up to 16 mm and line wire spacing from 50 mm upwards.

PL X-Y

The PL XY series ... patented worldwide.

And while the PLR II series offers increased speed compared to the PLR I series, the PL X-Y offers increased flexibility covering every application within the precast concrete element production. It is designed to cover every application in the production of engineering, construction of customised mesh and mesh with openings for prefabricated concrete elements.

“Patented worldwide, with intelligently designed features and ideas, the new PL XY is the only machine of this type that successfully combines unlimited shape variation production, with speed, efficiency, minimal labour, floor space and energy consumption requirements. Any type of mesh can be produced instantly without any adjustments,” says the spokesman.

Various models are available for both the economic and high-output production of mesh, offering maximum flexibility without changeover adjustments, due to the unique design and operation of the welding module, he adds.

Depending on the machine version, line and cross wires are fed fully automatically from two multi-line hyperbolic rotor straightening and cutting machines with an automatic convergence diameter changing system (patented) in less than three seconds or from precut bars.

The servo-motor driven welding head – which is single or double Y-axis programmable – eliminates idle and changeover times as it can be configured with four or eight welding points or multi-head configuration with up to 81 fixed welding heads to suit output demand. Cold or hot-rolled material, up to 20 mm from coil and 25 mm from precut bars, can be processed automatically.

Different line and cross wire diameters can be welded in the same mesh and in addition different cross wire spacing can be achieved. In-line roller conveyors or laterally discharging chain conveyors are located below the run-off table and are equipped with adjustable mesh aligning devices for perfectly aligned mesh batches.

Other features include a compact system lay-out with minimum floor space demand requirements, ergonomic operator interface with user-friendly software and remote access via Internet for troubleshooting and routine maintenance.

Other welding lines

The PL series also includes welding machines for the fabrication of special mesh products such as dowel side frames, dowel baskets, wall reinforcements, bar and mesh supports and lattice girders.

• PL SF: These dowel side-frame and basket welding lines are known to be the industry leader in the US market since its launch nearly 15 years ago. Featuring servo-driven operation, automatic feeding from coil and stacking of the final product, the PL SF series is used by almost every producer of dowel side-frame and baskets in the US.

• PLT: Using the same design and operating principle, the PLT series includes compact welding lines for the fast and accurate production of wall reinforcements. It also features servo-motor operation, automatic feeding from coil and automatic stacking. Design simplicity together with robust construction ensures high-volume production and minimal space requirements.

• PLT B: For the production of various types of bar, mesh supports and spacers, the PLT B series offers high flexibility and high output, due to the multi-line cross wire feeding system. Depending on the required production rates, the PLT B series includes versions with one, four or six crosswire feeding systems, where a complete part is produced in only two strokes (steps).

Also, depending on the welding method required, the PLT B series is equipped with welding heads capable of producing either overlapping or “T” (flash welds) between the cross and the runner wires. Additionally, in order to minimise labour cost, all versions of the PLT B series are available with a smart revolving stacking device.

• PL Tris: PL Tris is designed for the production of lattice girders and various types of roof trusses as well as concrete slab elements. It uses servo-motors to feed the line and diagonal wires and also a powered height-adjusting mechanism, thus minimising changeover times. Accuracy and consistent production is ensured by the fact that it is equipped with a unique continuous bending system with retractable bending pins for the two diagonal wires and high-speed cutting operations.

• PL RM Roll: With this series, all types and sizes of roll-mats can be produced accurately and efficiently directly from coil (of up to 16 mm) or precut bars (up to 40 mm). The PL RM Roll series is equipped with independent and individually adjustable welding heads covering different product widths and line wire spacing. Repositioning of the welding heads is a matter of seconds due to Eurobend’s unique “twist-lock” quick release mechanisms, the spokesman says.

In addition to welding lines, Eurobend offers a full line of rebar straightening and bending equipment.
