AGRU Kunststofftechnik, a global manufacturer of pipes, fittings, membranes and semi-finished products, says its portfolio of abrasion-resistant piping systems has been further boosted with the introduction of its Mine-Line products.
The Austria-based company specialises in pipes made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE), polypropylene (PP), polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) and ethylene chlorotrifluoroethylene (ECTFE).
These products have proven themselves in applications that demand high abrasion resistance, says Werner Steindl, sales manager of AGRU. “In principle, PE pipes are perfectly suited for conveying fluids-solid mixtures (slurries) and in many cases they are superior to other materials, for example, concrete or steel pipes. There are already numerous proven applications of the products in different applications,” he says.
He says feedback from field applications combined with results from abrasion tests have enabled further improvements and led to the development of the Mine-Line pipes.
The main body of the Mine-Line pipe is PE 100 or PE 100-RC. In addition, it features a newly developed inner layer for maximum abrasion resistance, even in harsh applications as well as a white outer surface layer that reduces heat absorption in sunlight, thus minimising the thermal expansion of the pipe (less snaking), he points out.
“Abrasion tests have proved their excellent resistance to fluid-solid mixtures,” Steindl emphasises, adding that the advantages of the Mine-Line pipe include outstanding abrasion resistance, reduced life-cycle costs, reduced pipe temperature, and less thermal expansion.
The Mine-Line pipe is available in diameters ranging from 63 mm up to 630 mm in SDR 17 and SDR 11. They are primarily designed for slurry lines in the mining industry or any other highly abrasive installations.
AGRU produces and distributes worldwide its high-quality plastic products for piping systems. It has been manufacturing and supplying high-grade thermoplastic solutions for the transport and storage of water resources for more than four decades.
The company, which exports some 90 per cent of its output, accords great importance to quality and its products are successfully employed in various fields of industry and infrastructure and are often used for particularly critical applications.
The company is represented in the region by its UAE-based distributor BMC Gulf, which serves the regional markets with specialised engineering services and turnkey solutions for industrial and private projects. It provides its clients and partners with professional engineering services starting from the design stage to the handover of the project, in the fields of environmental engineering, piping systems, water management, concrete repair and plastic welding technology.
