KUEHEN + Nagel has opened Phase Two of its state-of-the-art logistics centre at the Logistics City in Dubai World Central (DWC), the world’s first purpose-built aerotropolis.
Phase Two has involved the addition of around 14,000 sq m of warehouse and mezzanine level space, bringing the logistics centre’s total covered area to 31,000 sq m. The expansion was carried out as part of Kuehne + Nagel’s growth initiative and will strengthen its ability to support customers in the UAE’s fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), hotel amenities, emergency or relief and aviation sectors.
The expansion project was recently awarded a Leed (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold rating by the US Green Building Council (USGBC), reflecting the company’s commitment towards sustainability in addition to complementing DWC’s focus on encouraging sustainable developments in the UAE.
Kuehne + Nagel was the first international logistics provider to become fully operational in DWC in 2009. Phase One of its logistics facility consisted of around 17,000 sq m of warehouse space.
The company also operates a modern 16,000-sq-m logistics terminal in the Jebel Ali Free Zone and has offices in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.
