SOME 200,000 m of Prysmian’s FP Gold has been installed within the billion-dollar Etihad Towers in the UAE which opened in 2012.
“It has become a significant landmark building in the Middle East protected by Prysmian FP cable, following on from the Emirates headquarters in Dubai and Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Airways terminal,” says a company spokesman.
The FP200 Gold cable was installed as part of the vast fire alarm system right across the development which consists of five towers. Located on the waterfront at the end of the Abu Dhabi Corniche, the structure rises up to 77 storeys at its peak and features a range of amenities, including a five-star hotel, shopping mall, 870 luxury apartments and an extensive conference centre.
Speaking ahead of its opening, the electrical project manager said: “On such a large and important installation as this, with more than 200,000 m of cable installed by our electricians, it was imperative that we used the very best fire-resistant cable on the market.
“The Etihad Towers will be a major landmark in the region and so we could not risk using a product that would fail if the worst should happen.”
“We also chose to work with Prysmian because we knew we could rely on supply and delivery of such a large cable order when we needed it,” he added.
