APR Energy, a provider of customised power solutions, used its proprietary modular system of generators and transformers to prepare in less than 20 days a site earmarked for backup power generation in Oman. The company designed, installed, and commissioned a fast-track, turnkey power plant to provide 24 MW (33kV) of peak demand back-up power via electricity distribution company Medco.
The work is part of Oman Power and Water Procurement Company’s (OPWP) plans to meet an increase in seasonal power demands.
The Al Misfah site required civil works that included modification of existing equipment used for the electrical interconnection points and the construction of perimeter lighting. Specialised fuel and electricity metering equipment was also needed to be developed and put in place to track the plant’s performance.
