AKIDA Holdings, a global specialist in green air technology, through its partner Fakhruddin Holdings has launched its flagship Airocide, a filterless air purification technology in the GCC. The company has also tied up with Max Holdings, a part of Landmark Group, to distribute the product locally in the UAE.
The FDA (Federal Drug Administration)-approved filter-less air purification system was developed by Nasa (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) and has been in existence in the US since 2013.
“Industry experts say that Airocide has proved to be very successful as it is capable of eliminating virtually 100 per cent of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) – harmful gases emitted by products around the home including aerosol sprays, cleaning supplies, disinfectants, hobby supplies, building materials, paints and thinners, strippers and pesticides,” says a spokesman for Akida. “It also almost eliminates all mould, fungi, viruses and bacteria that cause allergy symptoms and respiratory sickness.”
Elaborating on how the system works, he says: “Airocide draws in harmful airborne pathogens and forces them into a densely packed matrix of highly reactive catalysts that are activated by a high-intensity 254-nanometer light. The reaction destroys these harmful pathogens on contact. Nothing is captured so there is nothing to clean. All that exits is crisp, clear air, with zero ozone emissions.”
He points out that research indicates that Airocide is “not only an air purifier but also a life saver as it is helping more and more people globally to stay healthy and pollution-free”.
Commenting on the effectiveness of Airocide, Amit Vardhan, marketing and sales director of Akida Holdings, says: “Indoor air pollutants have been ranked among the top five environmental risks to public health. After years of rigorous scientific research on air quality inside space stations, Nasa developed the technology that is used exclusively by Airocide, a filterless air purification system that’s been proven to effectively remove the worst indoor air pollutants. It is a proud moment to launch Airocide in the UAE along with Max Holdings as our distributors. Soon it will be available across the GCC and we believe that it will make a significant difference to the quality of life here.”
