QATAR-based Urbacon Trading and Contracting Company (UCC) says it has been ranked the fourth best contractor in the Arab world and 184th globally in the list compiled by Engineering News Record (ENR), a weekly magazine for the construction industry worldwide.
The list, which is published annually by ENR, ranks 250 of the largest construction contractors in the world, both publicly and privately-held, based on total construction contracting revenue regardless of where the projects are located.
UCC, which was established in 2011, has grown to become one of the largest turnkey general contractors in the region. Projects such as major mixed-use sites, resorts and hotels, parks, parking garages, malls and infrastructure work make up a large portion of the Qatari firm’s multi-billion-dollar contracts, says the UCC.
Commenting on the ranking, CEO Moataz Al Kayyat says: “This recognition is a reward for the dedication and hard work of our entire workforce. Our group of companies is not only committed to expanding their principal activities, but also seeking new opportunities in a fast-changing world. We shall continue to take pride in all that we do and above all – we shall continue to build trust,” he states.
With more than 2,500 professional staff, 16,000 skilled labour and over 400 pieces of heavy equipment, UCC is well positioned to assume a large share of the development of Qatar’s 2030 vision, adds Al Khayyat.
