MULTI-MILLION-DOLLAR deals were generated last month in Dubai, UAE, at a trio of exhibitions presenting a comprehensive overview of the region’s metal, tubes and welding industries.
The inaugural Metal Middle East, the fifth Tube Arabia show, and the second Arabia Essen Welding and Cutting exhibition held from January 10 to 13 at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (Dicec), highlighted the key strengths of the industries as well as challenges both locally and regionally. The exhibition, which was spread over an area of 5,000 sq m, witnessed the participation of a wide range of companies from many countries.
Satish Khanna, general manager, Al Fajer Information and Services, which organised the three mega shows with the two German giants Messe Düsseldorf and Messe Essen, said: “We are not surprised with the response in three days. The tubes and metal industries are witnessing accelerated growth, driven by several factors, especially expansion and development of oil and gas operations, infrastructure projects, urban areas and populations. This usually brings benefit to all the allied sectors.”
Jeen Joshua, exhibition group manager, Al Fajer Information and Services, said: “Today, steel is one of the most common materials in the world. Nearly everything around us is either made of steel or manufactured by equipment made of steel.”
“We are extremely delighted with the footfall for our exhibitions. It is quite unique to have such related shows on one platform which ensures a larger number of exhibitors coming into Dubai at one time and offering a wider choice to buyers.”
The debut edition of Metal Middle East, the only specialised event of its kind in the Middle East, serves as a platform for companies to tap the Middle East market, said Khanna.
