Basec and Ducab hold seminar
International cable test and certification body British Approvals Service for Cables (Basec) and cable manufacturer Ducab of the UAE last month organised a seminar on fire performance cables in Kuwait.
The seminar, held in Kuwait City, advised engineers and consultants on a British standard for life safety and fire-fighting systems, BS 8519. It was attended by 200 professionals from the Ministry of Electricity and Water, Gulf Consult, Pace, Jassim Qabazard Engineering Consultants (JQEC) and SQC International, among others.
Empower to take part in Wetex
Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower) will showcase its environmental initiatives at the upcoming Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (Wetex 2016) .
The event, organised by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa), will be held from October 4 to 6 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Dubai, UAE.
The 18th Wetex is expected to be the largest in its history with 1,900 exhibitors from 46 countries, 22,600 visitors, and cover a total area of 63,700 sq m.
Wetex 2016 will be held under the umbrella of the third Green Week. It also coincides with the first Dubai Solar Show and the third World Green Economy Summit (WGES).
Dewa to showcase smart initiatives
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) is set to showcase its technical achievements and the quantum leap in its innovative services and initiatives to make a “happy” Dubai at the Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (Gitex 2016), which will be held from October 16 to 20 at the Dubai World Trade Centre in Dubai, UAE.
Dewa’s stand (S2-D1) will be part of the Dubai Smart Government’s pavilion, a city-wide initiative to transform Dubai into the world’s smartest and happiest city.
1,200 firms for glasstec
As many as 1,200 companies will be present at glasstec, which will be held this month (September 20 to 23) in Düsseldorf, Germany.
Among the innovations on show, Grenzebach will present data spectacles – fitted with a mini-camera and microphone – that can be worn by the technician on site and are capable of revolutionising remote maintenance. Benteler Maschinenbau, meanwhile, will present silk screen printing machines as an extension of its existing product range as well as a system developed specially for auto glass that can also be used for displays without major modification, while Bohle will exhibit its new series of master belt grinding machines.
Lord Foster to speak at Cersaie
Award-winning British architect Lord Norman Foster, winner of the 1999 Pritzker prize, will deliver a keynote lecture at the 2016 edition of Cersaie, Italy’s premier event for ceramic tiles and bathrooms, which will be held in Bologna from September 26 to 30.
Foster’s lecture will be held in the Bologna Exhibition Centre on September 27 and will discuss 10 projects of his own and 10 carried out by other architects who have influenced him during his career.
This year’s Cersaie is expected to have close to 900 exhibitors and more than 100,000 visitors. Also, the Bologna Design Week will held as part of the event.
ICEC builds on inaugural success
The second Intelligent Cities Exhibition & Conference (ICEC) is set to take place this month (September 28 and 29) in Cairo, Egypt.
Ahmed Issa, CEO, Root Technologies, the event’s organiser, said: “The 2015 edition of ICEC was wel received and ICEC 2016 will be even more successful.”
ICEC brings together real estate developers, city planners, consultants, technology providers, architects, designers, government and telecom authorities, as well as contractors and building material providers.
