Nakheel is working on the final details of a Dh4-billion ($1.1 billion) mega destination mall on Deira Islands in Dubai and the project should be put out to tender shortly, a Gulf News report said.
The project will be one of the most-coveted contracts in Dubai’s construction sector, alongside that for The Tower, Emaar’s tallest structure in the world, which is located at Dubai Creek Harbour.
The mall will spread over 600,000 sq m and be the focal point of the wider destination and tourist hub Deira Islands intends to become, the report said.
The mall contract should come to Dh4 billion ($1.1 billion) or even more, according to Nakheel chairman Ali Rashid Lootah.
Now that the initial works on shaping Deira Islands are well advanced, setting up construction teams to handle the mall component should be relatively easy, he added.
