Xtralis Vesda smoke detectors from Honeywell ... next generation.

New detectors are more sensitive

Honeywell, a world leader in advanced smoke and fire detection technologies, has launched the next generation of Xtralis Vesda aspirating smoke detectors for reliable very early warning smoke detection.

Honeywell’s Xtralis Vesda-E VEP offers improved detection performance – one-and-a-half times greater sensitivity than Vesda VLP, and up to six times better dust rejection to minimise nuisance alarms, saving building owners significant potential costs from fire department calls, says the company.

The technology offers higher detection stability over a wider range of environments and improved consistency through its Flair Detection Technology. Its new particle characterisation capability provides analytics for targeted detection and efficient and effective response.

“Honeywell is a leader in the fire safety and prevention industry with a major focus on public safety in the Middle East. Our initiatives in this sector are more important than ever with the introduction of rigorous new fire safety regulations across the region,” says Tony Nasr, general manager, Honeywell Security and Fire, Middle East, Turkey and Africa.

“At Honeywell we strive continuously to enhance our offering and provide our customers with cutting-edge life safety solutions. The next-generation of Xtralis Vesda can detect smoke before fires are visible to the naked eye, which enables early warnings and helps avoid any potential damage,” he adds.

Vesda-E VEP enhances the user experience with out-of–the-box operation utilising auto configuration to aid commissioning, an intuitive 3.5-inch LCD touchscreen display for simplified status investigation and wireless remote review with the iVesda app for proactive maintenance. New standard features including built-in ethernet and wi-fi provide ease of connectivity with commonly used handheld devices and the PC-based Xtralis VSM monitoring package.

The Xtralis Vesda series occupies the same mounting footprint, pipe, conduit and electrical connector positioning as Vesda VLP for the seamless retrofit of the installed base.

According to Honeywell, the next-generation Vesda will provide virtually seamless retrofit options; enable longer pipe runs for convenient detector mounting; and reduce maintenance costs by extending detector coverage up to 20 per cent in high-ceiling environments.  It is also compatible with existing Vesdanet installations, allowing for monitoring of both Vesda-E and legacy detectors via the latest iVesda application.
