Hempel, a leading global coatings company, launched a new and revolutionary one-coat interior paint – Topaz Brilliance – at a gala event in Bahrain last month.
The new coating is expected to change the way Hempel’s product offerings are perceived in the decorative paints market, ushering in a new era in the evolution of the company and brand.
The new environment-friendly product includes a palette of 56 colours inspired by the attractions of countries around the world as well as seven shades of white, all of which come in two different sheens.
The paint range was launched at an exclusive event at The Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay, which was attended by VIP guests, including major clients from across the Middle East.
Hempel regional and group management present at the launch ceremony included Hempel Group vice president, Middle East-West Karsten Pedersen; decorative regional director of sales and marketing Ahmed Abdelaziz; regional brand manager Eman Baqer, and regional product manager Khaled Al Sayed.
The event also saw the unveiling of Hempel’s new can design, with Topaz Brilliance being the product to launch the fresh look.
Pedersen commented: “At Hempel, we always challenge the status quo and set new standards for the most advanced paint solutions. Topaz Brilliance comes as a testament to our continuous improvement journey, and we feel confident that our customers will recognise that Hempel has exceeded even the highest standards available in the market today.”
Abdelaziz added: “We understand that our business is built on trust. We promise our customers trusted paint solutions and we have been delivering on that promise for more than 50 years in the Middle East. Today, the launch of Topaz Brilliance is the beginning of a new journey into interior paint excellence.”
Topaz Brilliance will re-establish Hempel’s position in the interior coatings market, he said.
Al Sayed said the interior paint is a result of two years of research to develop a product in a wide colour choice and with unique features.
“The family-friendly, low VOC (volatile organic compounds), anti-bacterial and anti-microbial paint is easy to clean and is free of lead and other hazardous materials,” he added.
“Bringing inspiration home” is the concept behind Topaz Brilliance’s rich palette of colours, which is inspired by iconic locations around the world.
More than 250 retail outlets have already placed orders to make the product available for their customers with many more set to be onboard soon.
Hempel is a world-leading coatings supplier for the decorative, protective, marine, container and yacht markets. From wind turbines and bridges to hospitals, ships, power stations and homes, its coatings protect man-made structures from the corrosive forces of nature.
Speaking to Gulf Construction on the sidelines of the event, Pedersen said while the company has about 30 to 40 per cent share of the marine and protective coatings market in the region, it also has a strong decorative portfolio with a wide colour choice – but there is not much awareness of this fact.
“Today, we are here to make a noise about it,” he said.
Established in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1915, Hempel started supplying paint to the Middle East over 50 years ago. It has a state-of-the-art research and development (R&D) laboratory in Bahrain catering for the entire Middle East region.
