New mosques for Modon’s Riyadh City

Modon Properties, an Abu Dhabi-based master developer of sustainable communities and strategic mixed-use developments, says it has started work on the construction of five temporary mosques in sectors 7, 12, 14, 23 and 25 in the northern part of Riyadh City (formerly known as Al Shamkha), located in Abu Dhabi.
The Riyadh City development is spread over 8,000 hectares of land, which is equivalent to 85 per cent of the land area of Abu Dhabi island.
Once completed, it will increase available residential plots in the UAE capital by 45 per cent and will be the largest residential community development in the emirate housing 200,000 Emiratis.
The mega development will boast nearly 26,500 residential plots and 156 commercial plots, and include 62 educational facilities, 21 health centres, 300 recreational facilities and parks, as well as 121 mosques, says the Emirati developer.
Modon Properties CEO Abdulla Al Sahi says with Ramadan fast approaching, the company has prioritised the development of temporary mosques based on requests received from residents in the area.
“The five temporary mosques, the first in the City, will be evenly distributed across the development and will have the capacity to welcome over 1,600 worshippers. Three of the mosques will have a surface area of 250 sq m while the other two will each cover 450 sq m,” states Al Sahi.
