First Bahrain Real Estate Development Company said it has signed up Mohammed Al Gharib Architects & Engineers (MGAE) to design its upcoming project in the Seef area of the kingdom.
Building on the success of El Mercado, First Bahrain’s mixed-use retail and residential project, the company is now spearheading its holdings in Seef area with another open-air commercial project, said the Bahraini developer.
The new development will offer over 40,000 sq ft of premium retail space, built on a 78,878-sq-ft plot of land just across the street from the Bahrain City Centre, it stated.
Designed to serve the surrounding residential area, the site will feature a mix of cafes, restaurants, entertainment, and retail shops that will offer a unique experience through a combination of drive up and drive thru outlets, it added.
First Bahrain CEO Amin Al Arrayed said: “We were impressed with MGAE’s unique blend of expertise and their creative approach to our project. Always having an eye for opportunities, we identified a need for a complementary retail centre with an emphasis on convenience and a consideration for the needs of the residents of the surrounding community.”
“MGAE took the design elements of this project to a new level and we are eager to see this project come to life,” said Al Arayed, after signing the agreement with Mohammed Al Gharib, the managing director of MGAE, on the sidelines of the Gulf Property Show in Bahrain held in April.
Located along Road 2819, in between a group of new residential towers, the project will provide up to 26 units offering a leasable area ranging from 320 to 15,600 sq ft.
The offerings will include food and beverage outlets, an anchor supermarket, entertainment, and service facilities. Two of the units will offer drive-thru facilities.
“We are very happy to be partnering with First Bahrain on their new project in Seef. Our team of professionals constantly thrives to explore creative opportunities within each project we undertake and we are quite pleased with the progress of the design thus far,” Al Gharib said. “Our approach will deliver a superior project with services that will hopefully complement the area.”
Construction work on the project is expected to start this summer and is due for completion by the end of 2019.
An innovative regional real estate developer operating out of Bahrain and Kuwait, First Bahrain is strategically positioned to execute projects across the GCC, in accordance with Sharia principles.
First Bahrain owns or holds rights to over 1 million sq ft of strategically located plots of land in the kingdom.
The company’s signature project is the El Mercado Janabiya neighbourhood market, offering over 50,000 sq ft of leasable retail space.
