Reynaers Aluminium has secured a prestigious contract to supply bespoke doors and curtain-wall solutions to what is set to be one of the tallest residential towers in Bahrain.

The Belgium-based firm will supply aluminium systems mainly comprising the ES 50 series of doors and the CW 50SC curtain-wall series for the 46-storey Al Tijaria Tower, boosting the list of iconic projects undertaken by the company in the region, according to Ali Khalaf, managing director of Reynaers Middle East, the regional office for Reynaers Aluminium.

Martine Reynaers, the CEO of Reynaers Aluminium, specially visited Bahrain last month to sign up for the project, he told Gulf Construction.

Al Tijaria Tower, strategically positioned next to the Diplomatic Area on a 3,856-sq-m site beside the Beit Al Quran, will take urban development in the country to a new level, Khalaf commented.

The tower is designed and supervised by Arab Architects.

Khalaf said bespoke solutions, also called OS solutions, have been developed to specifically meet the architect’s vision and requirements as regards to the performance specifications of the doors and the specific look of the curtain-wall. Fabrication of the aluminium systems will be done by the Bahrain-based Ashbee Metal Cladding.

“Al Tijaria Tower is a lead example of Reynaers’ unique selling proposition (USP) wherein we insist on satisfying all stakeholders in a project – whether it is project design, performance standards of the systems proposed or the client’s budget allocated for the project,” Khalaf remarked.

Reynaers was involved in several aspects of procurement of aluminium systems for Al Tijaria Tower, where its sales and technical team played an integral part in proposing the best fit of systems as regards the technical aspects of the project requirements, he said.

“For example, a new vent solution has been devised for the ES 50 door series for Al Tijaria tower to offer significantly enhanced air- and watertightness as well as acoustic insulation specifications. And for the aluminium façade, a new transom and mullion profile was developed to achieve a specific interior look of the façade,” he explained.

The Eco System 50 door (ES 50) is a well-insulated flush door system that combines aesthetic design and energy efficiency. All types of inward and outward opening doors and flush doors can be realised with the ES 50, perfectly matching the ES 50 window system. The ES 50 doors comply with burglar resistance Class 2, offering a safe and secure solution both for residential constructions and utility buildings.

Meanwhile, the Concept Wall 50 Structural Clamped (CW 50-SC) is a facade and roof system that offers virtually unlimited design freedom and allows maximum transparency, thereby meeting all requirements of contemporary architecture.

The CW 50 supports 150, 310 and 700 kg in various glass support configurations. More glass weight can be offered in bespoke solutions. Furthermore, specified levels of fire resistance, burglarproof classes and thermal insulation, down to Uf = 0.56W/sq m K, are provided by different technical variants, said Khalaf.

In addition, dedicated opening types can also be seamlessly integrated in the CW 50 including parallel opening, top-hung, and hidden vent turn-and-tilt windows, as well as a flush roof vent for integration in roof applications.
