Formwork systems from Germany-based Paschal-Werk G Maier are currently being used by a number of contractors working on landmark developments at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island, Al Reem Island, Nareel Island Development and Al Raha Beach Development.

“These contractors are using Paschal’s modular formwork systems to help them expedite work on their projects that include the construction of infrastructure, villas and entertainment venues,” says Amir Delghandi, general director of the Bahrain-based Paschal Concrete Forms, the regional office of the German formwork specialist.

The formwork was supplied by Paschal Emirates, the Abu Dhabi office of Paschal-Werk G Maier, to several key contractors in the emirate which continue to rely on these systems for their projects.

On Yas Island, Trojan General Contracting is making use of Paschal’s systems for work on Phase One of the Yas Acres (North Yas) Development. Trojan General Contracting is the main contractor for the first three precincts of Yas Acres that involve the construction of 652 villas and townhouses, a golf course, a clubhouse and infrastructure at the project, which will eventually comprise a total of 1,315 homes spread across 811,108 sq m.

Trojan General Contracting is also using the formwork in the construction of Water’s Edge, a new waterfront residential development on Yas Island; and for the construction of 250 villas in Al Samha, Abu Dhabi. The contractor had earlier used Paschal formwork for the construction of pile caps and tie beams at a mosque, school and retail building which form part of the Yas Development on Yas Island. Other previous projects where Trojan General Contracting had used Paschal formwork include the construction of shear walls at the Hydra Commercial and Residential Tower Project and retaining walls at Al Noor Tower, both on Reem Island; and the footings on the Hydra Village project in Shahama.

Meanwhile, Malath Alamen General Maintenance is using the systems to build double-sided reinforced concrete walls for the infrastructure work at Yas Island’s West Yas, a residential development boasting four- and five-bedroom villas.

Among other developments at Yas Island, Galaxy Universal General Contracting has employed Paschal formwork for the retaining walls and columns on a 5D cinema project at Yas Water Park.  The contractor is also using these systems for the construction of the columns of villas and townhouses at Bay District, a residential development at Luluat Al Raha, which forms part of the prestigious Al Raha Beach Development, a waterfront residential housing project spread over seven hectares.

At another prominent project – Nareel Island Development, which comprises 148 residential plots located off the capital’s coast in Al Bateen – Gulf Contractors Company has used Paschal formwork for infrastructure and ancillary works for planter and seating walls. The contractor has also utilised the system to form double-side walls at its Reem Central Park project on Al Reem Island.

Finally, Seidco General Contracting is using Paschal formwork to shape the core walls of the Hamoud Salmeen Humaid Al Mansouri Building, which is under construction at Airport Road in the capital. Seidco General Contracting had earlier purchased the formwork for the Al Wafra project, a commercial and residential building development at Al Reem Island, as well as for the construction of columns at the United Square Development, a prestigious mixed-use development comprising three integrated towers, located on a prime plot of land in the Al Khalidiya district.

Meanwhile, well-known contracting firms from Abu Dhabi such as Pivot Engineering and General Contracting Company and Square General Contracting Company have invested in Paschal formworks for projects they are implementing in Dubai. Currently, Pivot is using Paschal’s column formwork system for the construction of 578 townhouses at Phase Two of  Casa Dora, a Portuguese-inspired district at Serena Development which is expected to be completed in 2020. Square General Contracting has used Paschal formwork for single-side walls of a hotel project in Deira, Dubai, and is scheduling to use these formwork materials in Abu Dhabi for a residential-cum-commercial building project which is now in the shoring stage.

Paschal is a sought-after partner for concrete projects worldwide, with customers in more than 40 countries and 50 years of experience.

Paschal Concrete Forms, which was set up in 1997 as the main office for the Middle East, has since become one of the leading suppliers of modern formwork solutions to the construction industry in the GCC.

Based at the Bahrain International Investment Park (BIIP) in Hidd, it has an assembling facility for modular formwork and a stockyard in Bahrain. In addition, with branches in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and its Scientific and Technical Office in Dammam, Paschal is strongly represented in the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region.
