Backed by continuous investment in R&D, Geberit says its piping systems represent state-of-the-art sanitary technology, tackling every issue faced on today’s building sites.

For Geberit, drainage is much more than simply draining off water; the technology has to keep up with all realities of the site, from practical implications to fabrication and compliance.
Hence, its piping systems represent the latest know-how in the field of sanitary technology, says a top company official.
“Hardly any other company in this sector invests year after year in continually optimising systems and developing new technologies and products,” Gabriel Nassar, managing director of the Representative office Gulf, tells Gulf Construction.
With a large range of products, and a wide range of dimensions and various connection possibilities, Geberit pipes and fittings withstand shocks, drops, impacts or pressures of up to 1.5 bar without breakage or permanent deformation, and are resistant to abrasion. This robustness provides, most notably, a guarantee during the construction stage that the pipeline will remain intact despite possible mechanical influences, he adds.
The robust and shockproof piping material of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) has numerous advantages, particularly enabling it to withstand extreme temperatures.
Hot water does not affect the material at 80 degrees C – or even up to 100 deg C in the short term and under certain conditions. In the event of cold, the tough material is still shockproof at temperatures of -40 degrees C.
“If high resistance is required in drainage technology, Geberit HDPE is the ideal system, fulfilling all the relevant standards. The piping material of HDPE is not affected by lyes or other aggressive waste waters and is resistant to most standard alkalis, acids and chemicals,” says Nassar.
Geberit HDPE pipes are available in all common diameters from 32 to 315 mm, and the range of fittings, including the special fittings, is nearly comprehensive.
Nassar says the comprehensive assortment of fittings, including special fittings and accessories, makes Geberit HDPE the universal solution for numerous drainage tasks. It is suitable, among other things, for use in industry, trade, laboratories, buried underground pipes and for roof drainage with Geberit Pluvia.
He points out that the sound insulation and fire protection of a drainage system are only ever as good as the weakest component. “By using a complete system from Geberit, clients are provided with a warranty for the necessary documentation for their projects. They can comply with current standards and regulations and will not risk compromises at any of the interfaces.”
With the sound insulation expertise of Geberit, waste water noise is minimised when applied in private housing, public buildings, hotels and commercial properties. Furthermore, Geberit systems offer a proven high degree of protection against the spread of fire through the discharge pipes.
Fabrication
Geberit HDPE and Geberit Silent-db20 pipes and fittings can be welded together. And butt welding and electrofusion sleeve couplings are well suited to this application.
Geberit offers a range of modern, highly efficient welding tools for this purpose. The welding joints of Geberit HDPE pipes remain persistently leakproof for many years and offer building owners and mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) professionals a high degree of safety.
A pipe or fitting can be prepared for welding in a short period of time with a Geberit electrofusion coupling. In preparation of electrofusion connections, the use of a Geberit pipe scraper removes the oxidation layer on HDPE and Silent-db20 pipe ends and fittings.
The Geberit electrofusion machine ESG 3 is used for the Geberit HDPE and Geberit Silent-db20 piping systems. Simultaneous welding of up to three electrofusion couplings at a time offers valuable time saving and a remote control facilitates installation work. Made for demanding everyday work at the building site, the ESG 3 is powerful and suitable for electrofusion couplings or electrofusion couplings with an integrated thermal fuse of all pipe dimensions from d40 to d315 mm.
Geberit offers butt welding machines that are easy to operate. The compact and robust design ensures the machines are well suited to both prefabrication in the workshop and use at the building site and can be operated with a generator, thanks to the built-in overvoltage protection.
Geberit also provides parametric building information modelling (BIM) content for all Geberit piping systems. This BIM content ensures that projects run smoothly – from design and planning right through to construction and system operation.
