Renolit Waterproofing, a business unit of the German multinational Renolit Group, has set its sights on the Middle East and Africa markets, following its success in Europe.
The firm specialises in manufacturing waterproofing membranes for roofs and coverings and draws on the vast technological know-how of its parent firm – a leading global manufacturer of plastic materials – to create unique and guaranteed products, says Frédéric Weemaels, business unit manager of Renolit Waterproofing.
Some of its advanced products include Renolit Alkorsmart, from the Renolit Alkorplan range, which features Solar Shield technology, a special coating that protects the outer surface of the membrane from ultraviolet (UV) rays. This distinctive feature allows its application and provides maximum energy yield particularly in warm and sunny areas, Weemaels adds.
“Our strategy is to focus on where we are strong: we are producing membranes and offering systems, not only for roofing but also for the building sector in general,” he says. “We can achieve these goals thanks to totally new technologies such as Renolit Alkorsmart that respond to current demands for sustainability. This solution allows to reduce thickness, which is good for the weight of the structure, and to give greater assurance to customers, especially in extreme climates.”
Another top-of-the-range system from the company is Renolit Alkorbright which meets sustainability and energy-saving targets.
“This new system for cool roofs holds the highest SRI (Solar Reflectance Index) value registered in the CRRC (Cool Roof Rating Council) database – meaning that this membrane reflects the sun’s rays as much as possible and is effective in reducing the excessive heat inside buildings during the summer and, consequently, electrical loads for air-conditioning,” he says.
Acquired in 2006 and part of the Renolit Group, the Spain-based Renolit Waterproofing manufactures durable and high-quality certified synthetic membranes for waterproofing roofs and coverings, for swimming pools and civil engineering. The Renolit Group is a globally-active specialist for high-quality films, sheets and other plastic products.
