Shakhbout Medical City project on track

01 November 2019

Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (Seha) has announced that work is in full swing on its Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City project, with the first phase set to open this month (November).

One of the largest hospitals in the UAE, the Shakhbout Medical City will be spread over a 300,000-sq-m area on a strategic location close to Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Dhafra areas. The outpatient clinics can accommodate about 2,500 visitors daily, said Seha.

Part of Seha’s network, the 732-bed hospital has four wings – emergency and intensive care; acute surgical; maternity and children and outpatient services, in addition to several specialised areas such as vascular surgery, burns and trauma treatment, pulmonology and orthopaedic and plastic surgery along side neonatology, it added.

The Shakhbout Medical City project, which is being built in two phases, will introduce artificial intelligence (AI) in its operations, said a top official.

Phase One will see the completion of the cardiology, adult neurological, ear, nose and throat (ENT), gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary and ophthalmology clinics this month, he added.
