Kuwait’s country pavilion will be a star attraction at the upcoming Expo 2020 Dubai with a sophisticated exterior design inspired by the Kuwaiti local environment expressed by sand dunes and Kuwait’s vision for sustainability, said a key official.
Estimated at 4,550 sq m, it will be one of the largest pavilions at the Expo site. The pavilion will comprise a large water tower encircled by shimmering gold prisms, representing the country’s desert. The façade will reflect sunlight, embodying the nature and energy of Kuwait.
Kuwait’s pavilion will be a major icon attracting the attention of visitors from all over the world, remarked the country’s under-secretary at the Ministry of Information Muneera Al Huwaidi.
“Kuwait chose to have its pavilion in the Sustainability district under the theme ‘New Kuwait, New Investment Opportunities for Sustainability’ mainly driven by the vision of HH The Amir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah to rely on renewable energy and in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Programme,” Al Huwaidi, who is also the commissioner-general of Kuwait at Expo 2020, was quoted as saying by Kuna.
Al Huwaidi said Expo 2020 was an important platform through which Kuwait could strengthen partnerships and relationships and exchange experiences in various fields with other countries in addition to highlighting its progress in various fields at the international level, especially the humanitarian role.
“The pavilion will highlight Kuwaiti skills and creativity in various fields. Nine exclusive stages have been set up outside the pavilion for talented Kuwaitis to showcase their skills before millions of visitors over a period of six months from October 20 to April 2021,” she added.
Al Huwaidi said that the fraternal ties and the long-standing relationship between Kuwait and the UAE is the key factor behind Kuwaiti participation in the event.
