Al Bahar unveils cost efficient machines

01 April 2020

Mohammed Abdulrahman Al Bahar, one of the GCC region’s largest distributors in the heavy equipment market, has launched a wide range of Caterpillar-owned SEM machines including wheel loaders, motor graders, track-type tractors and soil compactors.

The wheel loader models that are currently available include the SEM 636D and SEM 655D.

SEM is a Chinese manufacturer of heavy equipment that operates as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Caterpillar, one of the largest heavy equipment manufacturing companies in the world.

Al Bahar has been the exclusive dealer in the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman for Cat products since 1959. It is a major provider of equipment for the construction, energy and transportation, and materials handling industry.

In a bid to serve the value-oriented customers who are focused on initial price rather than on total cost of ownership, Al Bahar has differentiated its product portfolio, by including SEM machines, says the company.

SEM-branded heavy earthmoving equipment are known for their affordability, reliability and simplicity. The machines are easy to operate, maintain, and enjoy a robust support system, it states.

The Sharjah-based Al Bahar has obtained the sole distribution rights for SEM products in the UAE as well as Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman.

With more than 100 facilities across the globe, Caterpillar builds capable machines with advanced technology, and sells its products to more 200 countries worldwide. In 2008, Caterpillar had acquired SEM and six years later, the company became Caterpillar (Qingzhou).

Al Bahar says it is also offering the SEM 919 and SEM 921 motor graders, SEM 816 LGP and SEM 822 bulldozers or track-type tractors, and SEM 512 soil compactors. It currently has an exclusive promotional offer for new SEM machines for a limited period covering the 655D, 512, 921 and 822 units where customers can avail of free equipment protection and operator training.

In November last year, Al-Bahar unveiled the Cat 950 GC wheel loader as part of the launch of the latest Cat GC range – which also included the 330 GC excavator – across its territory. Described as ‘game changers’, these machines are said to offer the opportunity to move more material in less time, at a lower cost per ton, for a faster return on equipment investment.

The GC machines are ideal for those looking for machines that are simple, durable, fuel competitive and easy to use, says Samer Ismail, Product Manager – Earthmoving & Excavation, Al-Bahar, commenting on the need of the GC range in the region.

“Moreover, with the extensive support of the Al Bahar dealer network and services with Cat Genuine Parts, the GC models promise new opportunities to optimise businesses. In other words, these machines are easy to own, operate, and service,” he says.

Ismail continues: “Customer value comes first at Al Bahar. Having considered our customer requirements, we found that some of our existing customers wanted simple fuel-efficient machines, which would minimise their owning and operating costs.”

The 950 GC is a complete new design leveraging proven Cat components and technology to meet customer needs. Reliable performance, low fuel consumption and ease of operation are the main attributes of the machine, he says.

“It is purpose-built to be the right machine to get everyday jobs done. Designed for quarries, sand and gravel pits, coal operation and construction job-sites, the 950 GC is also an exceptional choice for governmental bids, offering agencies a well-designed, durable machine that fits the budget.

“Designed to deliver maximum efficiency, Cat 950 GC assures maximum productivity for everyday operations. It comes with performance series buckets; Z-bar linkage for better bucket loading; and load sensing hydraulics for better balance,” he adds.

Powered by the renowned Cat C7.1 engine, it has an Engine Idle Management System, which minimises fuel consumption. Load-sensing hydraulics produce flow and pressure for the implement system upon demand and only in amounts necessary to perform the needed work functions.

“The 950 GC is the machine of choice for a customer who doesn’t need all the technology and options that goes with the 950L, instead is looking for an easy-to-use machine with lower acquisition costs. It is a very heavy-duty machine and it works well for applications in our region,” he concludes.
