Diyar Al Muharraq launches deep graving sewer network ops
Diyar Al Muharraq, one of the leading urban developers in Bahrain, has announced that Phase One of the Deep Gravity Foul Sewer Network, within its master-planned island city, became operational in March. The company was aiming to get the network fully operational throughout the South Island by the end of last month.
Diyar Al Muharraq says its vision is to provide a high-quality, zero-carbon sanitation network that serves all residents of the city.
The sewage network spans 6.4 km in length, transferring wastewater directly to the deep reservoir located by the entrance of the city, it states.
The city’s sewage network is connected to a pumping station on the South Island, where the waste water is sent and then it is directed through the main 6.4-km line to the Hidd area, and finally to the sewage treatment plant which is connected to the local sewage network, says Diyar Al Muharraq.
The South Island has witnessed the completion of construction of the treated wastewater tank, holding a capacity sufficient to serve the entire island’s population.
The tank is linked to other strategic sub-tanks, eliminating the need for trucks to transport treated wastewater, as part of the strategy to reduce the carbon footprint, states the developer.
On the latest infrastructure developments, CEO Engineer Ahmed Alammadi says: “We, at Diyar Al Muharraq, are committed to putting our continuous efforts to provide residents with the ideal living environment. Our Deep Gravity Foul Sewer Network, which is an essential component of the infrastructure, is now operational.”
Nakheel disinfects 647 residential buildings in Dubai
Master developer Nakheel undertook a two-week precautionary deep disinfection programme at all 647 residential buildings in its Dubai property portfolio as part of its ongoing commitment to safeguarding public health.
The exercise covered common areas of all buildings managed by Nakheel Strata and all apartment blocks under the developer’s residential leasing division including Jumeirah, Discovery Gardens, The Gardens, Jumeirah Heights, Masakin Al Furjan, Badrah and International City.
Using Dubai Municipality-approved materials, the process took place during the government’s current night time restrictions. The deep disinfection is in addition to several ongoing public safety initiatives at Nakheel buildings, including elevator and high touch point sanitisation every two hours, hand sanitiser at building entry points and strict control measures for contractors.
Nakheel says it has also deep cleaned all of its offices across Dubai, and continues to follow strict disinfection regimes at its offices, malls, buildings and communities.
Nakheel’s master communities have been sterilised as part of Dubai Municipality’s disinfection programme. In addition, all beaches, parks, pools and sports facilities are temporarily closed under government directives.
The company is also following work-from-home policies in line with government directives, and has asked customers to use online services instead of visiting its offices in person.
