McDermott wins multiple Saudi contracts for storage tanks

US-based McDermott International, a leading EPC solutions provider, says that its unit CB&I Storage Solutions has been awarded one ‘large’ and two ‘sizeable’ contracts for the engineering, procurement, fabrication and construction (EPFC) of 38 tanks and 13 spheres in multiple locations across Saudi Arabia.

“CB&I Storage Solutions has had a significant presence and strong track record in Saudi Arabia since the 1930s,” says Cesar Canals, Senior Vice President of CB&I Storage Solutions. “This experience, and our strong partnerships with international contractors and major oil and gas operators, has established us as one of the most reliable providers of storage and EPFC solutions in the country.”

The awards will be reflected in McDermott’s first quarter 2020 backlog, the company says.

CB&I Storage Solutions is a leading designer and builder of storage facilities, tanks and terminals. With more than 59,000 structures completed throughout its 130-year history, it has the global expertise and strategically-located operations to provide its customers world-class storage solutions for even the most complex energy infrastructure projects.

McDermott defines a sizeable contract as between $1 million and $50 million and a large contract as between $50 million and $250 million.

 

Galfar Engineering names new CEO

Oman-based Galfar Engineering and Contracting has announced the appointment of Dr Hamoud Rashid AI Tobi as its new chief executive officer. He succeeds Dr Hans Earlings who ended his tenure last month.

Dr Hamoud is an accomplished CEO with a track record of working on complex assignments and leading organisational transformations, said the Omani group in its filing to the Muscat Securities Market.

An industry veteran, he has spent more than 16 years working within the oil and gas industry, largely with Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) and Royal Dutch Shell.

Over the past six years, he has been at the helm of AI Shawamikh OiI Services as CEO where he has managed to accomplish significant returns and achievements, it stated.

The company’s board of directors believe that Dr Hamoud’s taking over as CEO will contribute to the further development and strengthening of the company, the filing added.

 

Penspen wins Abu Dhabi Offshore engineering contract

Penspen, a leading global provider of engineering and project management services to the energy industry, has been awarded a contract by Target Engineering Construction Company for slug catcher replacement support on a project on Zirku Island in the UAE.

The contract is for work on the island’s Satah slug catcher replacement project. The project’s aim is to replace the existing slug catchers at the Zirku Satah plant, which is operated by Adnoc Offshore, with new ones cladded with a corrosion-resistant nickel super alloy. It will also include modifications to associated pipelines, instrumentation and control systems, electrical, civil and structural works. The scope of work for the company includes a review of processes, loss prevention/technical safety, mechanical, piping, instrumentation and control, civil and structural, electrical and corrosion/materials, Penspen states.

Adnoc Offshore operates the Upper Zakum, Lower Zakum, Umm Shaif, Nasr, Umm Lulu and SARB, Satah and Umm Al Dalkh offshore oil fields, located in the Arabian Gulf. It also operates oil and gas processing plants on Zirku and Das islands.

 

DSOA appoints Ejadah for infrastructure maintenance

Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA) has announced that Ejadah, an asset management company in Dubai, has been contracted to manage all infrastructure maintenance works across the integrated community.

Ejadah’s services include the maintenance and repair of DSO’s sewerage, irrigation and storm networks, and their respective pumping stations, as well as the fountains and water features at its lakes and street lighting, reported state news agency Wam. Public park maintenance and open area infrastructure is also part of the scope.
