Metso is introducing the new Nordberg HP900 Series cone crusher for the aggregate and mining markets to bring increased performance and reduced Capex.
With more than 10,000 HP cone crushers installed worldwide since 1989, Finland-headquartered Metso is a global leader in cone crushing technology.
“Often copied but never matched, HP cone crushers have satisfied many aggregates and mining customers around the world. With the HP900, we go straight to the point, with increased performance and reduced Capex,” says Jim Bathie, Vice President, Mining Crushers at Metso.
The HP900 is an upgrade to the well-known HP800 cone crusher that has more than 175 installations, according to Bathie. Approximately 80 per cent of the parts are compatible between the two systems. The HP900 comes with improved kinematics, raised pivot point and power increase which leads to a 15 per cent capacity increase. A new lubrication system is included to help support the new performance level.
The HP900 is delivered pre-assembled, pre-wired and factory tested. The equipment is packaged with a rubber-pad mounted subframe and guards, allowing quick and safe set-up with a compact footprint. These factors result in reducing installation time by 50 per cent.
Thanks to the proven and reliable tramp-release system, the new crusher allows passage of tramp iron, minimising production stoppages and protecting internal components.
Top service access to the head, shaft, eccentric and other major components make disassembly safe and easy. Additionally, Metso wear parts can be replaced up to four times faster than similar cone crushers, he claims.
The crusher is equipped with Metso’s IC70C automation system to ensure optimum operating parameters thus enabling utilisation of its full potential. The IC70C is designed to be easy and simple to use. All information can be tracked using a single screen and it features help and trouble-shooting options.
Meanwhile, Metso says its Nordtrack mobile crushing and screening product range for the aggregates industry, which was launched last October, has been well-received by the market. The new Nordtrack offering consists of 19 products to complement Metso’s mobile crushing and screening solutions.
The new Nordtrack products are ideal for general contractors, thanks to their compact size and high performance, combined with an attractive price point, says Vesa Tuloisela, Director of Metso’s Nordtrack Product Offering in the Aggregates Business Area.
Nordtracks have standard designs for off-the-shelf availability, plug-and-play features and they can utilise the extensive Metso support network, making them ideal for a variety of applications like recycling, demolition, and the processing of sand and gravel.
“The sales of Metso’s Nordtrack products have taken off as expected, and our customers have appreciated the way we meet the needs of different customer segments with this new offering. Metso has sold more than 50 units to date,” says Tuloisela.
The new Nordtrack offering and Metso’s iconic Lokotracks complement each other, making Metso a leader in the growing aggregates contractor segment.
The Nordtrack range features two mobile jaw crushers, the Nordtrack J90 and Nordtrack J127, and one impact crusher, the Nordtrack I908S. The Nordtrack J127 is a wide jaw crusher, with nominal feed opening of 50 x 29 inches, making it ideal for sand and gravel operations. The Nordtrack I908S mobile impact crusher is a compact size, lightweight recycling crusher that is easy to transport between project sites.
Nordtrack crusher units come with crusher automation. Additionally, the range features six different mobile screens, ranging from heavy-duty scalper Nordtrack S2.11 with a large screening area, two-deck Nordtrack S3.7 and Nordtrack S4.7 screens, three-deck Nordtrack S3.9 and Nordtrack S4.9, to the massive Nordtrack S4.12 big heavy-duty screener.
All units are equipped with powerful and fuel-efficient Volvo or CAT engines, meeting the latest fuel restrictions, and power take off (PTO), which allows connecting multiple units together, Tuloisela points out. New additions to Metso family of mobile products are the Nordtrack stacking conveyors which come with a wide-ranging offering of 10 different models .
Among its latest innovations, Metso has introduced two new game-changing crushing and screening plant concepts for the mining sector – the flexible FIT stations and the smart Foresight stations. These two cost-efficient and productive solutions will provide significant resource and time savings for the mines.
The new stations offer a wide range of flexible solutions with ease of maintenance and time savings for any operation. The FIT stations are designed with the focus on speed and flexibility. There are two stations to select from: Recrushing station and Jaw station. The steel structures are supplied in modules that fit easily into containers for transportation. This also reduces on-site welding usually required and allows for quicker start-up. Container delivery reduces delivery time by up to 25 per cent compared to similar crushing and screening plants. Erection is also reduced by up to 15 per cent, it states.
The Foresight stations are equipped with smart automation technology including Metso Metrics, VisioRock, level sensors and crusher variable-frequency drive (VFD), states Lambert. These features enable optimized crusher speeds, preventative maintenance and optimizing of production levels up to 6,000 tons per hour. The MP cone crusher station features a scalping MF screen and an MP Series cone crusher.
